Fly Little Airplane Fly Part 3

Updated on September 3, 2018

With the Weather Will The Little Airplane Make It Home?

When we last left off Jon and Grandpa Jack hadn’t been back to the cottage because Jon’s little plane had been compromised. Jon was still trying to figure out who would compromise his plane and why he was beginning to think they would never figure it out and they didn’t before they went up in it again. This time though when they checked the plane over they had to check it about one million times or so it felt like. Grandpa Jack knew he was good behind the helm of the plane, his parents were okay with him flying so who didn’t want him flying? The airplane was small Jon knew but it could fly so what was the problem. Jon was going to figure it out and make sure the plane could fly and fly far. Jon wanted to be able to take it everywhere, Jon also knew that his plane used to be safe so what happened? Had someone tampered with it and if so who? Jon decided to ask his grandpa Jack if he knew of anyone who he thought might want to harm any of his planes. So he asked him the next time he saw him, “ grandpa do you know of anyone who would want to harm any of your planes the people working here or anyone else”? he asked. Grandpa Jack didn’t know but then he had a thought, “ we do have cameras at the airfield maybe we should check the feed and see if anything suspicious pops up.” He said so they went into the control center to do just that.

They noticed that one of the people working for them was tampering with Jon’s little plane. Grandpa Jack knew where he was a the time and he went to go and speak to him while Jon went to get his plane ready to fly again to see if it happened again. He wanted to be sure it didn’t and the only way to do that was through flying it. So he waited for his grandpa Jack to come back from talking to one of the grounds people who he then fired but Jon didn’t know that. When grandpa Jack was back they decided to take the plane out again, to see what happened.

Jon got behind the helm of the plane and took off to the cottage. When they got there they didn’t land though they started off by circling the cottage, a few times low in the sky and then got higher he was flying so high in the sky that he felt anything was possible. He would practice like this once a week with his grandpa Jack in the summer and before he knew it, it was time to get his pilots license. He had all his hours and enough experience too which made him want to get it even more so when the instructor asked who wanted to go first his hand was the first one up. “ Okay, Jon you can go first.” The teacher said so that was what he did. He was tested in and out of the aircraft and he passed with flying colors. He now knew he could go up in any plane he wanted alone and fly them alone he didn’t need anyone else with him, but a co-pilot just in case but nobody to tell him how to fly it and that is what he liked about being a pilot. He couldn’t wait to go home and tell his parents and his grandpa Jack. He was so excited to fly now he didn’t know where he would go first or who he would bring.

He now worked for his grandpa Jack and his first piloting assignment was to take a group of people to the cabin that was next to his grandfathers. It was rented out for two weeks and the only way to get there was by plane, so the plane had the passengers as well as everything else the cabin needed. It was a bright sunny day when Jon woke up in the morning he was supposed to make the trip to the cottage. So he got all ready and went to the airport where he was supposed to pick up his passengers. It was fine getting to the cottage and after a week, when it was time to come home that was where the challenges came in there was something coming and Jon could feel it, he just couldn’t put his finger on what it was. After he had gotten everyone there safe and they had all had a nice weekend it was time to come home, but Jon knew it was going to be risky he waited in grandpa Jack’s cabin for a few hours just to see what would happen. It looked as though nothing would so they bored the plane to head home, soon after that when they were in the air some sort of storm started to brew. It hadn’t been on the radar before but they were in the thick of it now, and he couldn’t land with his passengers. So he updated them and started his chant in his head hoping to get them all home safe he couldn’t land so he tried to get them to safety with all the heavy rain they were having that he hadn’t anticipated before.

They flew through the air back to the airport but when they got there it took them over an hour to land and they were running out of fuel fast. Jon could hear his passengers begin to panic when he tried to land but had to pull it back up because he just couldn’t do it there was too much rain for him to see where the runway was. Then the wind took something, and everything started to spin Jon opened his eyes wide made sure both hands were securely on the helm and began to chant. “ Fly little airplane fly” and as he chanted this they rose higher and higher into the air until there was no more rain, around them. They got home to safety in the nick of time before the fuel ran out all the while Jon was chanting “ fly little airplane fly. They made it home safely and when everyone disembarked from the plane, and turned to Jon and thanked him, they all said they would request him the next time they had to fly anywhere, he was the best pilot they had ever had and they wanted this same plane the next time they flew as well and they told Jon as much. “this plane might be little but its got fight and we are home safe we will request this plane the next time we have to fly.” They said and Jon just smiled. “ Fly little airplane fly” they all chanted as they left the airfield.

Jon was finally running the airfield on his own

Grandpa Jack was waiting for Jon when he walked to the control center of the airfield. “ Jon you did amazing up there I never thought that your plane would make it back in that storm.” He said, Jon, nodded and said, “ I felt free and like I could live flying everywhere even in the rain.” Jon said, “ the little airplane has surpassed the limits that I thought it had it didn’t crash in the rain because Jon you were at the helm and you knew what you were doing. My question is how did you do it”? grandpa Jack asked, “I just pulled up on the helm to get us out of the storms eye and chanted fly little plane fly, and that is how we made it here in one piece. I just believed and thought there were no limits even with the weather, and that is how I got here.” He said, “ Do you think you could fly in any type of weather”? his grandpa Jack asked, “ Yes I do.” Jon said.

Two days after that Jon and Jack went up into the air again because it was a nice day or so they thought. Jon was the pilot and it was fine in the beginning but again something happened when they were coming home, the little plane started to sputter or was that the rain Jack and Jon both didn’t know but Jack said, “ Jon I don’t think we are going to make it I hope we don’t crash.” Jon made the plane go higher like he had done two days before and started to chant, “ fly little airplane fly,” and that is exactly what it did. It flew so high it was as though it didn’t have any limits as to how high it could fly or how far it could go. Which also had to do with the pilot and the way he flew the plane. He got them to safety again and his grandpa was immensely proud. He couldn’t think of any pilot to fly in any type of weather. He did this with passengers too and they thought the same thing.

The next time it happened Jon was happy that he got all the passengers to safety as well as himself and his grandpa. It was nerve-racking flying in those conditions but he would never admit it and secretly he loved it. The thrill of flying in not so great conditions that was he wouldn’t admit that either for fear of someone thinking he was crazy. Jon was thinking of this as he walked around the airfield after his last trip and grandpa Jack was watching him. Jon didn’t notice him though until he cleared his throat. “ Grandpa, I didn’t notice you there did you want to tell me something”? “ I wanted to thank you actually for taking the chance and getting everyone back home even though the weather wasn’t ideal. I do have one question though how did you do it with your small plane”? “ I went really slow and flew high then I should have while I chanted fly little airplane fly and seemed to work. Grandpa Jack smiled and said “ Yes it did and I am proud of you. “ Jon could only smile and the two of them walked out of the airfield side by side.

A few weeks later Jon was called to fly his plane in rain again, and he agreed. This time they were going further though and grandpa Jack was worried but Jon said that he had passed his short distance quota for the chant and now It was time to test out the long distance one. He wanted to feel free and the only way to do that and too feel limitless also was too surpass it and that was what he was going to do. The plane was small so he wasn’t sure he could do it but he wanted to try and see what happened. He wasn’t going to let the weather stop him, the little airplane did it once it could do it again and it did. When felt there was a problem he chanted until he made it to safety.

He flew the plane through all kinds of weather to see how far it could go. It always made it so he started calling it the little airplane without limits. It just flew in any type of weather and always made it. Jon knew that if he believed in anything it could happen especially when it came to the airplane he piloted. It was a no limit airplane that was why he liked it so much. He flew that plane the most when taking people to different places, and everyone loved it. The little airplane knew him if that was even possible and they had a special bond.

Years passed and grandpa Jack had been gone for three of them so Jon was running the airfield by himself as well as being a pilot now. He was flying his little plane on the trips he flew people on unless requested otherwise and then he would take another plane. Most of the time the little plane was what people requested they all wanted to see how far he could push it. In the end, they all felt limitless and like they could go anywhere in the little plane. That was what Jon wanted and he was getting it which is also why he agreed to take over the airfield.

Jon never wanted to give up running the airfield

Jon loved running the airfield so much that he never wanted to give it up. He was hoping he never needed too and he wanted to take people on so many more trips in his little plane. He was the best pilot around and was always working in his little plane. He even repainted his plane to read fly little airplane fly-in nicer lettering then before. He always said that whether there was whether or not and now people looked forward to hearing it. People said it was what got them to safety wherever they went. Tune in next time to see what happens next

I wonder what the next instalment will bring. Where did his grandfather go or is 'gone' a euphemism for death?
