For My First Granddaughter, With Love to EM
Grandmama Loves You Dearly, EM,
springing out so cleverly,
Sweet chatty words,
Your bubbly ideas
chase pink wiggles!
eyes dancing blueberries,
working to make pies,
reaching for the skies.
Smart feet bouncing
to take a romping journey,
Red hair trailing,
trying to keep up.
"Wait just a bit!"
"Careful when you jump!"
Tired babe fades
in swirls of luminosity,
cuddling spent girl
in my lap curled.
As I softly sing love’s song of prayer.

Grandmama Loves You and Prays for You!
Dearest EM in all the World,
Since first writing your poem I've watched you grow into a little girl who is everything and more than I knew you would be! Your delightful ways and eagerness to learn, your brilliant creativity and willingness to think analytically, all point to an amazing future with much potential in life. It is truly breathtaking to think of you growing up in this quickly changing world filled with opportunities and dangers.
As you learn and grow I continue to pray for you, asking God to grant you a heart filled with deep understanding of what He has revealed to humankind about Himself so that your precious feet go safely in the way of His Word. May all that you think and do be pleasing to Him, that by keeping His Word you will have His promised great reward through His Son, Jesus the Christ. May you become and remain mindful of what He calls you to in His Word and walk so closely with Him that your heart and mind are filled with conversations that increase your wisdom, courage, and usefulness.
As the chapters of your life's book are written I pray that you will become so engaged with your Creator and God that a life of grace will grace all you meet with news of His amazing grace. May He grant you confidence to speak His will to others, strength to display His character as you do His will, and protection that frees you in every way to serve Him in all that you do.
May your days unfold in honor to Him so that all His good words are fulfilled to you by His direction, causing your path to grow ever brighter. May His grace be your health and beauty throughout life, giving you the blessing of strong confidence in His overruling power in all things. May your life be a consistent praise to His goodness and may the praise of His mercy always be the song of your heart. For His glory, I pray He will magnify Himself to you and through you in every way, every day.
Oh The Deep Love of Jesus!
Ins and Outs of the Word Analytical
Because this little girl came into this world with an extremely analytical mind I often think of the blessings and pit falls involved in the natural ability to think this way. People are born with different proclivities. Someone with an analytical mind is determined to find explanations and answers, and even to search out problems needing solutions because they need a mystery to solve.
Analytical minds love reason. They enjoy reasoning out both tangible and intangible problems. They like calm order. Even at young ages organization makes them feel safe and comfortable. These minds have the potential to make the smallest tasks rather tedious by the tendency to think in rigorously diagnostic ways, but the beauties of their problem solving capabilities makes them quite useful.
Having good analytical thinking skills is useful in every area of life. Those who need to learn more about developing and using the skills do well when they make a balanced analytical thinker their friend. Thinking through every aspect of every thing is too hard, but being able to (or having a true friend who can help us) think through different angles of the important things we face in life (motivations behind and/or risk assessment of personal and business relationships, for instance) is crucial to living well.
One of the big problems with having an analytical mind is the temptation to be manipulative. Because they are so able to come up with viable solutions to problems they can come to see others as needing to be influenced, even controlled. This alone may become a real problem, but it can also lead to a desire to control situations. All. Of. Them. If this problem develops certain thinking patterns then need to be unlearned.
Perhaps the biggest problem with a natural talent for thinking analytically is the temptation to be self-dependent. Analytical minds must make themselves willing to listen to others if they are to be honest with themselves and in their work. The most important thing they need to realize is that they are human and that being human means being limited. Oh that analytical thinkers would use their strengths in dependance on their infinitely omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent Creator!
