Forbidden Days

Updated on May 28, 2012

I am an artist, designer, photographer and writer. See more of my work on cmariearts.

The long hot days

Scream to me

Steamy floral scent

A musk that won't stray

With hidden abandon

I walk down the water

The hot sun

Penetrating my gaze

The sensual wetness

The rise and fall of the waves

Leading me to my desires

Lighting my way

I dream of these times

Swept far away

My dress the color of coral

The scent of vanilla in the air

While the palms sway softly

Making the nights much sweeter

The drums in the distance

Awaken me to new life

The sandy beaches

They are my home

The city is not mine anymore

Forbidden territories

Lie ahead

The days full of longing

Missing the excitement of the unknown

No one to define me

Being set free

No limitations

Only to be led by me

      The long hot days

      of tropical summer

      Scream to me

      No steamy floral scent

      You went away

      leaving me alone to suffer

      Summer's heat.

PS: Your composition is so beautiful.

A great description of a great place to be on so many levels... it makes me want to be there knowing my affinity for beaches, pretty women, and sensual wetness *smiles*... My mind enjoyed this, and thanks you for that.

Remember the old ad line..."Is it real or is it Memorex?" I get that feeling from this verse. Is it just a daydream invading the humdrum of daily life or is it the real deal complete with the chains thrown off...only you would know! Nice work...thanks much for sharing! WB

Beautiful poem, Caroline, I can almost smell the ocean. Reminds me of the years sailing on the ocean, and the days spent on the beaches of Hawaii.

What a beautiful whimsical poem, I felt like I was swept there with your words. The warm summer breezes caressing my cheeks and the salty air lingering in my nostrils, as well as the gulls diving and dipping top the waves hunting for their food. You left me with sand between my toes, well done and voted up.
