Forgiveness - The Eleventh Good Word in the "Good Words Project" (Poem)

Forgiveness

© by Shyron Shenko 4/11/2014

Forgiveness is never cut and dried

Only you will know if you even tried

Raw grief, hurt and anger from others you may hide

Give your gift of forgiveness and forget about your pride

If being unforgiving eats you up inside

Vain thoughts, that you will not need forgiveness

Even if forgiveness you have never sought

Never realizing how much pain you wrought

Eventually when you ask forgiveness

Surreal is the way your heart will feel

So.. With Forgiveness your heart with love can then be filled

How much easier it is to go forward not having to hoist or drag those huge grudges along with us, letting them spoil the future as they tainted the past, just by their presence. It is always better to travel light . . .

I have found that forgiveness is the key to happiness. There were times when i did not forgive and i was the one who hurt the most. This is beautiful and helpful. Thank you. Sharing also....

Beautiful hub here of truth. We are called to forgive others, even if they do not know or care that they have hurt us terribly. It will rot us to the bones and can make us sick even, living with unforgiveness in our lives. Love Matthew West.

Up and more, tweeting and pinning

      God bless,

Beautiful hub. I read this in the morning and it made my day.(I loved those lines on family) :)

That being said, I must admit that forgiveness it very difficult, especially when someone you trust and love hurts you. The closer people are to you, the harder it gets to forgive. But, i guess that's what one needs to learn to do. Good message here.

Forgiveness always benefits the forgiver more than the forgiven. Carrying the weight of a grudge around can wear a person out and prevent them from using those resources of energy for good things. Great hub. Voting up, interesting, beautiful and awesome. Also sharing.

I had lots going in my life and I forgave people and moved on a strong word with such great meaning and so much to think about from this word about oneself in such situations.

This poem is awesome, Shyron, and calls attention to the need for humans to learn how to foregive. Holding grudges leads to festering of the emotions, and that often leads the one with the grudge to become a bitter person. Unforgiveness harms the person who harbors it in his or her heart, rather than whomever is the object of all that anger.

As your hub makes clear, forgiving someone for ill treatment of you or someone else you hold dear does not require that you forget the bad behavior (regardless of that little ditty, 'forgive and forget'), although it's best if you can put it behind you and move on, consciously not lingering on the bad feelings until it becomes easier not to think of them. It may not be possible to allow the transgressor back into your life after forgiveness, for often those who hurt us do not change, but would hurt again if given the chance. Self-protection is necessary, but it does not lessen the positive effect on the person who truly forgives.

I personally know this to be fact from my own life. It was a lesson learned that proved very beneficial. Life is too short to bottle up resentment against others. Let it go!

I think forgiveness and mercy are the most important things everyone needs to remember and give generously of them. If one cannot pass on the forgiveness God has given them, in the end they will not receive forgiveness either. Everyone needs forgiveness and mercy sometimes. No one is so perfect they will never need it.

God uses a person's own standards of judgement to judge that person who holds those requirements, so it is wise to make absolutely certain one can meet their own standards before requiring those standards of other people lest one fail to receive forgiveness and mercy themselves.

An excellent poem on such an important issue. If we can't forgive we will receive no forgiveness ourselves. And if we can't let go of those trespasses against us we must carry their burden with us like a millstone everywhere we go. Grudges are not lightweights.

How much easier it is to go forward not having to hoist or drag those huge grudges along with us, letting them spoil the future as they tainted the past, just by their presence. It is always better to travel light . . .

Sharing this again and voting it up.

What great weather we've had the last couple of days! It could be this way year around and it would suit me just fine. If it weren't so muddy it would probably be perfect for all you have to do outdoors too.

This is such an important concept. Mercy and forgiveness go together and this is what Jesus stands for. I truly believe the same standard we hold other people to is the one we will be held to.
