I’ve never shared a poem but recently I've been encouraged to. As I pray to break out of the shell I tend to hide in, today I choose to be brave enough to share this poem with you.

This one I dedicate to anyone who has found themselves hurt and untrusting of the world – those who want to dream because it’s the only place they know to find some kind of peace. It’s not a Christian poem, but a simple expression. I pray my other hubs on prayer will draw the dreamer...

© FORTY WINKS

In my sleep induced reverie,

Where no one can invade,

A place where only I can be

And pain is not replayed

Where thoughts are hid from enemies

And hearts are guarded still

Where wisdom is a friend to me

And loving is a thrill

I’d find the dreams that angels kissed

Where I am safe and sound

Where the curse of Eve does not exist

And Eden still abounds

Where transparency is not a ruse

And no illusions for the eyes

Where heart and mind are not confused

And sorrow never cries

The comfort of those forty winks

A deception all its own

A golden chain with broken links

Where I find myself alone

God bless you...

Patsybell, I would like to thank you as well for reading and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem.

I'm thinking maybe it's the phone that makes it harder to read, I apologize. I hope expanding the screen might help, for future reference. Again, I thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by, read and comment. God bless you.

I was drawn to the story by the photo. The words are very hard to read. It is a must share hub, just make it easier for us oldies or mobile users.

This is very good material. I like it. Just consider making it easier on the eyes.

God bless you, Michael-Milec. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read and comment - truly appreciated. I'm greatful you enjoyed the poem. It took a lot of courage for me to share it :)

Amen, the Lord's greatest gift of love truly is His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, to whom I owe all the honor and praise for all things, even this little poem...

I love that you said you know you wouldn't be alone - very true indeed. We're never really alone as the Lord is always with us. It's my prayer that everyone will one day know this for themselves...

      God bless you...

      God bless you mothersofnations.

Indeed, "It's not a christian poem "- and thank God for it: leaving it equally accessible to whole world as Gods gift of love is - His only begotten Son…

everybody is a "dreamer" down deep consciously or subconsciously of that desirable place where the "Eden still abounds" … ( I know I wouldn't be alone…)

      Voted up and beautiful.

      Peace with us.

Jodah, thank you for your kind words. I've written little poetry in these last years in comparison to the years prior but because poetry is a first love for me I would really like to get back into it and dissolve my reluctance (insecurity) to share. Your words are encouraging and I sincerely thank you.

      God bless you.

Beautiful poem and you don't know how closely I can relate to it at times. I hope the encouraging comments here inspire you to write more. I also love the Bible verses you include in all your hubs. You are an inspiration. Voted up.

Amen! I'm in prayer about that - I believed I had finally learned to leave everything in His hands but then our Lord revealed to me that there's still a bit of insecurities that I hold in my hands, rather than leaving it in His. I dont want that - I refuse it. So during these times, I know He'll guide me and wash those things away - just like the rain :)

Thank you, FaithReaper. You're choice of words are absolutely fitting for me today* GBY

You should continue to write your beautiful and thought-provoking poetry, as you are gifted! I really enjoyed this piece here. I do hope you write more.

Many years ago I would get so anxious in this life, and now I know once I truly cast all my cares to Him, then that sweet, sweet peace just rains down on me ... the peace that surpasses all understanding.

      Voted up +++ and away

      God bless you.

God bless you, SheilaMyers. You're in my prayers...

I think most of us have had this kind of moment at one time or another. I have plenty. But as I've grown in the Spirit I've learned to take these things to God. When I find myself in my own thoughts, the Lord redirects me to Him (thank You, Jesus!) Being able to express those emotions in a healthy way (like prayer and writing) has helped me tons and I pray it does the same for you. Thank you for reading and commenting.

This poem could apply to my life at times. While I may not be asleep and dreaming, there are many times I escape reality by thinking about what could be and I feel safe while I'm doing all that thinking.

Mothers, I may have been at that very place "Where I am safe and sound" and "Where I find myself alone." Thank you for putting these deep thoughts into poetic expressions.
