Free poetry by Shonah Milne Melton on dug abuse... inspirational.... positive... overcome

Dear Drugs

Oh yes you are sly and ever so sneaky,
Brave in your greed and downright cheeky!
But the fight is never over or lost completely,
If the will is there from those that love so deeply .

You may take many down your filthy road,
Filling their bodies with your addictive load .
Your slippery finger will seek to destroy,
Bending wills like a useless, feeble toy.

But hope you cannot and will not take from us,
For the Lord has born the sins of your terrible curse.
In Him we trust and pray for hope,
For all the souls you've taken through dope.

So while you've won some battles so far,
Our Lord gives us hope and sets us on par.
With the greatest of men who overcame strife,
And eventually will gain eternal life.

So here I admit, you are powerful and strong,
Proud in your doings of evil and wrong.
We don't doubt you destroy many a life,
With your dark cunning planning of terrible strife.

We'll teach our children of your treacherous ways,
Smothering your appeal to the end of our days.
So win your battles while we plan to win the war,
And in your face we'll close your dark drug door!

From The Drug Busters!!!
