How great the weight that weighs down all our dreams!

If only there were time enough for this,

If only there were strength enough, it seems

Then likely we would string, then aim--not miss,

But strike the target where it means success!

If only there co-operated more

Souls willing, elements prevailing, less

Abundant jagged things that bruised and tore

Those splendid plans. And yet there's new hope in

That new direction. Shoved by snow or rain,

One hears the preacher preach the Gospel--sin

Is cleansed by Christ, believe in Him! The pain

And power of Christian walk has so begun.

The battle lost can lead to battles won.
