Dancing in the Rain

My childhood memories are filled with days of fun getting wet in the rain. Whenever the rain came pouring down my friends and I used to run outside to get totally drenched in the rain.

Rainy days were fun days for us! This is a poem that I wrote recollecting fun memories of getting wet in the rain.

Pitter patter I hear the sound,

Raindrops falling swiftly down,

A shout of joy, I skip and run,

With lightning speed I join the fun.

My friends run out, cold and chilled,

To get drenched in the rain,

Feel the shivers and thrills,

Rain drops rolling, never standing still.

We run to the park to see the lake,

Sheets of rain carving gentle waves,

Rocking the flowers, lulling them to sleep,

Drops of rain drumming out gentle beats.

We jump into puddles, splashing about,

The frogs jump out as we scream and shout,

Getting wet, having fun, singing, in the rain,

We enjoy getting wet, dancing in the rain.

Drenching wet we run and shout,

Come on everybody, come on out,

Singing to a tune, dance in the rain,

Live your childhood once again.

Enjoy the rain!!!

Oh how I love this. Rain does not have to be dreary. It can be wonderful. You capture that here with such energy and excitement! I love a good summer shower. This is exactly the feeling of it. :)

Ahh, those happy, careless days of running and playing in the rain. What a timely read as it is actually raining and thunder roaring where I am at the moment...loving the refreshing feel.

Thank you for this delightful read.

      Up and sharing.

I love the rain and often get strange looks from my fellow country folk in the UK when I say this! Your gentle, visual poem brings back the feeling of standing in the rain, arms outstretched and feeling the drops on the face. Beautifully captured, Nithya. Voted up!

What a lovely joyful poem. I recently moved from a rainy state to a very sunny state. I so miss the sound of the rain and the feel of the raindrops on my face. Your poem brought it all back to me.

Very good, I had the feel of the lull to sleep, which is usually how rain affects me, but I could also see children playing in the rain, as I did as a child. You captured much here.
