Another Collection of Funny Signs

Updated on September 23, 2014

More examples of 'sign before you think.'

When it comes to funny signs, you may be under the impression that 'you've seen it all.' However, sooner or later, there will almost always be yet another example of signage that catches your attention and causes you to reach for your camera, regardless of where your travels take you.

What is even more incredible though, is that signs like the ones depicted below were even allowed to be posted in public in the first place. Surely, at least one person with the brain capacity of something exceeding that of half a garden fork or head of cabbage could have seen that there was something seriously wrong with each of these signs before putting them up in public?

Please note that each of the signs in the photos depicted here were by no means edited and each photo has been taken by me while out driving, shopping or browsing through the stores.

Any takers for a portion of grilled hand? Not for me, thanks!

Grilled hand - must be a new and previously unheard of delicacy here in South Africa? I somehow think that the signage should have read 'bbq or braai sandwich type griller.'

To pirate or not to pirate?

Seriously, how do they expect the general public to "Stop Piracy" when blank CD's and DVD's are right there next to the signage in question? Mind you, these devices apparently do make wonderful coffee cup coasters and sun catchers as well :P

Shame, even clothes pegs have been stereotyped these days...

One would wonder if their counterparts on the other end of the aisle have been labeled as 'stupid pegs?'

'Excuse me sir, what colour are the horse manure ones?

I found it rather strange how the person on the other end of the line asked me if I was crazy when all I did was ask them what colour the 'horse manure' Clivias were.

Seriously? Should some people even be allowed to drive in public unsupervised?

Umm...don't the revs on a vehicle's engine normally 'climb' when one accelerates to go up a hill? This is an actual job card that I came across while working for a vehicle dealership.

No much thought was put into the brand name of this t-shirt.

Amazing how most of the shoppers around me thought that I had recently escaped from the local lunatic asylum when I burst out laughing after reading the label inside this garment? (wonder what they call bums in Bangladesh then?)

Say again? Eat some more WHAT?

When the South African biscuit manufacturer designed the packaging and came up with the name for this sweet treat, there is no doubt that little to no thought at all was put into the process. Strange how they suddenly disappeared off the shelves.

You mean to say that even Tarzan has shoes?

Looks like the jungle has become a rough place these days if even Tarzan needs to wear shoes. Back in the day, all Tarzan needed was his swinging vine and loin cloth attire...

Since when has our city been graced with such a monumental name change?

"Welcome to Durban." This large and attractive sign post would have been such a wonderful gesture from Yellow Pages had the sign been erected in the right city...they were only about 650km out...seriously, this is East London...

Only in Africa

A huge thank you goes out to the ostrich farm/park where this was erected, as it is not only your honesty in the matter that is very much appreciated, but you also provided a perfect opportunity for me to burst out laughing on the side of the road.

If you've enjoyed browsing through this collection of funny signs, feel free to let me know in the comments section below. Or even feel free to share your own collection of funny signs with me so that we can laugh together at the sheer stupidity of some people out there.

If you have seen these photos elsewhere online, please know that they have been stolen from me, as I only post photos on my hubs that I have captured myself. Thank you.

Absolute pleasure, Debby. Most of them were found around town. I tend to carry a camera with me wherever I go, so I never miss a funny photo. There's never a shortage of intellectually challenged signwriters these days! :-)

Thanks Goody5. Will definitely check out your hubs as well. There are just so many funny signs around, but only a few people like you and me who actually notice them :-)

A fellow sign hubber, I love it. I can't believe you have 3 hubs dedicated to the sign. I checked out all three, but I like your ostrich farm sign the best. We have an ostrich farm down the road from us, and they have a wooden sign with an ostrich on it with real ostrich eggs that are painted different colors hanging all over the sign, which I always thought was pretty cool. You'll have to stop by and check out my sign hub when you get a chance. Keep on hubbing........

Thanks for stopping by, Benjimester. Am planning another hub along these lines, because it seems like the locals definitely don't think before making signage :-)
