A soul portrait
A soul portrait

A walk beside the stream, a glimpse through the trees,

a shadow running beside, always you seem tied.

With me since birth, born along side.

Always there but not always seen.

Joy you have shared, pain you have felt,

comfort you have given.

As a child I saw you as a tall maiden

with blond braids astride a great steed.

Always in battle gear ready to protect.

You were there when I needed strength,

always there when I needed protection.

As I have grown older and wiser in the ways of the world,

I have come to realize that you are what the Western World

would call my guardian angel.

My Norse blood knows you though,

You are my fylgja.

And to me you appear as a Valkyrie,

you have all the courage and beauty that I need.

You are an extension of my very soul,

when I need that courage you are there.

Lovely poem and that is what poetry is about; there is no hard and set rule for poetry maridax. Write it when your heart wishes. Well done.

Thank you. I'm not that good at poetry but love to try. I do however enjoy Norse Mythology and "walk the old way". Love Dragon's btw.
