Get Followers--Tips for Bloggers
Writers need readers. There is little purpose in a writer's work without them. Whether writing strictly for self-expression and creative outlet, or to generate an auxiliary income, writers need readers.
There are several ways to develop a growing readership when writing online.
Number one is to find a niche, or several niches, that appeal to you. They should be topics that you personally have some experience with and that you enjoy so much that you want to learn more--and share.
Number two is to write great content, consistently. Whether you post daily, or just a few times a week, get in a pattern that your readership can anticipate. Eventually, you will have some that will come looking for you.
Number three is to start a blog. Even if your preferred outlet is a different venue, like HubPages, having a blog can only increase your overall readership over a period of time. Cross linking from blog posts to your hub posts will give your hubs more exposure and can increase SEO (search engine optimization). Developing a blog in a particular niche can also brand you as somewhat of an expert in your field. Again, it takes time but we love to write, don't we? So, we have time.
Number four is to offer ways for people to follow you on your blog:
- Sign up by RSS feed
- Subscribe to your site and receive new posts by email
- Become a Facebook Fan
- Follow you on Twitter
Number Five is to comment on blog posts and articles of other writers in your field. You can gain recognition by being a regular supporter of their work. Develop a relationship with them, and eventually you could become a guest writer. Guest posting can lead to greater readership for yourself and bring you recognition for your expertise in the field.
Get Followers with Comment Luv
Now here is a real tool in making your blog commenting very effective. Comment Luv! Comment Luv is a plugin that can be added to your blog. Originally created for Wordpress blogs, there are now ways that it can be added to a Blogger blog, as well.
The plugin creates a double backlink effect. Your comment gets a link just from you adding your information but then it also picks up your latest blog post. Two in one!
Here's how it works: Comment Luv inserts their logo with a checkbox, which appears as part of the comments section below a blog post.
The person commenting completes the field entering their name, email address (which will not appear publicly) and the URL of their blog. If he/she clicks on the Comment Luv box below the commenting field, their latest blog post's title will also appear as a clickable link.
Add a nice comment and click "submit". Not only have you created a backlink to your blog but others can click and go to your post. I have gained some notable traffic for my own blog by commenting on Comment Luv blogs.
BENEFITS: Those offering Comment Luv on their blogs increase the value of their blog site. Readers will come with the sole interest of reading your work but others will come knowing it will help their own viewership as well. Traffic is increased--everybody's happy!
Smart visitors of Comment Luv websites will subscribe to the site to be alerted when new posts come out. It reminds them to visit again, read and comment, making a regular appearance.
Get Followers by Comment Luv Surfing
So, how do you find the right blogs and websites where Comment Luv is used? You need to find sites whose readers would also be interested in your topics. You need to go "Comment Luv Surfing."
Here is how you find Comment Luv sites in a particular niche.
- Go to the Google search engine and click on "more" on the toolbar.
- Now select "blogs" (This works for finding websites, as well. Just use the regular search window, instead.)
- Enter the keyword that you are surfing for and + comment luv enabled.
- Then "enter".
A list of blogs in that keyword niche will appear. Their comment function should have Comment Luv set up on it.
If I were looking in my blog's niche, I might enter the following keywords:
- organizing + comment luv enabled
- dessert recipes + comment luv enabled
- family + comment luv enabled
If someone was into writing about sports, they might try something like:
- football + comment luv enabled
- sports trivia + comment luv enabled
You get the point. I go Comment Luv Surfing a couple of times a month. In fact, I just added a couple of comments about party planning on some Comment Luv sites as I was researching this hub! I entered: party planning + comment luv enabled and came up with a few that I wanted to read.
Try it. Surf and find a good blog post and comment on it, clicking on the Comment Luv checkbox before submitting your entry. It's easy and fun. And, the more you visit other people's blogs and comment on them, you will eventually find some sites that bring you some real traffic in return. Those are the ones you will want to make note of and visit them, often!
Comment Luv isn't working?
If you find when visiting CommentLuv activated blogs that your most recent blog post is not being linked, you may need to add a "feed reference". This may be a more prevalent problem for those whose blog is a Blogger product and not on Wordpress. The fix is relatively easy to do. You will need to add a feed reference to the html in the header area. Simply put, CommentLuv needs to know where to find your feed.
