Get Paid to Write Articles for the Serious Writer

Updated on May 23, 2014

For quite some time now, many people who have talent in writing have tried their hands in online writing and blogging. Writing and blogging has been one of the most promising works online that you will find. Whether you look for a writing job or publish your own materials online, it has been one of the most viable online opportunities. For the many average bloggers, there are various writing sites that we can join. The more serious and talented writers can join any writing site they want but sometimes, some of them may prefer to look for a site where they can get training for becoming a better writer.

There are writers who are so motivated and driven that they can work long hours. If you are one of them, these sites may be just the sites that you are looking for. Of course, they have higher standards and are stricter in many ways than the average writing site.

Ready to work hard for a passive income? Hubpages was one of the average writing site where anyone who wants to write online can join. However, for the last few years, it has become more stricter in many of its rules and guidelines. The stricter rules was imposed to keep the site on a competitive edge and writers of the site are expected to update and improve their hubs (articles) on a regular basis.

If you are a serious writer who is trying to build an online writing portfolio, you may want to try Hubpages. This site can be a good learning center for beginners and at the same time, it can give a good passive income for writers who are willing to give a generous amount of their time on the site.

The site may not be so passive after all. Then again, if you are a serious writer, you will want to be more proactive with what you publish on the internet.

Yahoo! Contributor Network

Be a featured contributor in the Yahoo! Contributor Network. If you are one of the more serious writers who want to have regular assignments, you can try to apply to be a featured contributor and receive regular assignments. There are requirements and qualifications before you can become one of their featured contributors. And once you become one, you must maintain high levels of content quality and publishing activity. They can remove you from the program if you cannot be at par with their standards. So there is basically a high expectation from their featured contributor.

Featured contributors are paid through upfront payments and performance payments. For featured contributors who are not US residents, once you are dropped from the featured contributor program, you won’t be earning anything. Because contributors who are not US residents will not earn anything.

Ready to work extra hard? Try

A typical guide to publishes 4 articles every month for their first two years. If you think that’s hard, try to apply as a topic guide and you’d need to publish between 6 to 10 articles in one month at an average of 750 words. Whew! No time to complain if you’re qualified. You’ll have tons of work to do regularly. Aside from those regular published articles in your About account, a guide is expected to update their blog at least once every seven days. And a topic guide is expected to promote their content via a blog. Unless you are an articles churning machine, taking in this kind of responsibility is a full time job. Don’t forget that they also expect high standard of quality from your articles.

Before you can be a guide in, you will be evaluated in the course of one month with 2 stages of screening process. Before you can become a topic guide, you will be given assignments in the course of three weeks after which, they will review your work. So, if you are into a full time job as a writer and you are qualified to write in this site, it probably won’t hurt you to check it out.

Constant Content

Want to sell your articles to earn more money for upfront payment? Constant Content may just be the site you are looking for. Constant Content allows writers to sell articles. It doesn't come easy though. If your article isn't good enough, it will be rejected. Constant Content will only accept articles that they think are good enough and at par with their standards.

If you are a serious writer and is serious to make writing your full time income, Constant Content may be the perfect site for your needs. It allows its writers to work with clients. As long as you are a good writer and is serious with online writing, you may find that Constant Content is going to be beneficial for you.

Hi Nell, I agree with you, taking in a responsibility like that can be really scary. But sounds like a full time job and serious writers will probably not pass up this opportunity.

So far, from what I've read, Bright Hub receives the best reviews from their writers. But, also looks good if you're looking for a busy schedule. :) Best of luck, hope you make the right choice. Cheers.
