Getting Ready To Leave The Nest

Updated on May 28, 2016

Is Your Child Leaving?

You are special and so very talented,

half the battle is knowing what you want to do

I hope you never waste it

or think it is that easy for everyone.

I think the profession that you have picked is very admirable, and you are great at helping others,

Whatever you do it will be awesome, terrific, a professional person,

Today, you are a very handsome looking man.

The eyes of your baby sister,

You have another pair of eyes looking at you,

Don't forget this Mister Joe.

Remember, you set the example for the younger ones,

She looks up to you so do it right,

You are getting ready to leave childhood,

going on to college, you are so blessed

with a exceptional mind, it came so easy.

My First Grandson

You are my first grandson. When you were born in July,1997 you had 3 other grandparents beside me and grandpa. Some how even though one was young, grandma Linda, they all passed away. Remember that they especially Linda, would be so proud of you. I don't believe you know how proud they would have been of you. I have 2 more grandson's I hope they all do as good as you.

Graduation

Finally Graduation Day

Parents work hard to get there kids through school. Some kids require more help then others. Joseph has always been a good student and it seems to come easy for him. I believe if they are doing good leave them alone.

Some kids require a push and a lot of encouragement. If you can't help your kid if he is having a hard time some times it is better to find a tutor. Not every child can fly though homework. All kids are different and need our respect.

When Do You Need To Start Getting Ready?

Computer

Every new College student will need a computer. It does not have to be new it can be refurbished. The computer is very important. You can not get much done in today's world with out one. With all the online classes we have to day it would be very hard to do anything without a computer.

I have found out the Dell Computer can last for years if it is taken care of. My Dell is 6 years old and is still going strong. I try and keep it well maintained and it is very smooth running.

Bookbag

A book bag or backpack is a great gift for any student going away to school. Studying is what its all about, so this makes a good gift. I especially like this one because it is very sturdy and is made from canvas. The stitching and sewing are very good. This should last because of the way it is made.

A Very Special Day

It is harder now than when my kids were in school. I do not mean the school work as much as I see kids being so stressed out. The school is more into cloths, styles, and the new phone. I am grateful for the good kids I see and all those who are graduating from the 2016 class.Good Luck to all.

Stella, congratulations to your grandson, I have three, 2 of them are in college and 1 is already working, so I know what you are talking about.

It is a scary world, today.

I think we all start getting ready at least most everyone as soon as we take our first step.

    Blessings and hugs my friend.

Congrats for your grandson ladyguitar. He has accomplished a lot and has has a little more to go. I'm sure that after your guitar playing round the house and your guidance he'll go on and be what he wants to be.

Missy Smith, Thanks for your comments. You are so right to talk to your daughter now about her future. It goes so fast and before we know it they are grown. Sorry it took so long to comment back to you. I seem to have less energy these day. Thanks, Stella

Very sweet message for your grandson, Stella. My daughter will be off in three more years, my nephew is actually graduating this year as well. I'm a little worried for him, he hasn't really made any type of plan I don't believe. I hope he does well.

As for my daughter, she and I have been talking about the future since she was old enough to understand it probably. lol. She has a very good head on her shoulders and I am confident she will go far in life. :)

Jackie,Yes, it is hard the second time around, just like the first. They do need a year to get ready. I think it is easy when they know what they want to do at an early age. Nice to hear from you, thank you. Stella

Clive I like the way you expressed that nest.

Some leave early some leave late but they must fly!

Kiss and Tales, I am glad you could relate to my hub. Congratulations on being a great grandma. None of my grand kids are getting married. The oldest is 25, and she seems happy just working on her career. She is in the medical field. I have another grandson who will graduate next year, I love him dearly, but he is a real challenge. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Stella

Sage advice - "if they are doing good leave them alone." I think you hit the nail on the head. Too often as parents, and perhaps as grandparents, we have the irresistible drive to meddle when no meddling is necessary. Good luck to Joe. He sounds like a fine young man. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Stella I enjoyed reading this heart moving hub. I can relate I too am a grandmother , just made great the 14 of April. Your hub reflects wonderful feelings we share for our children. How we love them so much .you have a wonderful picture to add. Reminds of my babyboy on the couch with controls in his hand. Now he is a successful buisness man and just got married to a smart and pretty young woman.

I am proud of all mine that was in my nest.

We must be like the moma birds that tell her young to fly!

Love your hub. I was thinking about you and said there you are .it is always a nice experience to here from you. Thanks you for sharing.

It is as hard the second time as the first time around isn't it? I said they need a year to get ready! There is so much they really need to decide and give deep thought to for a good while!

    Hope all goes well!

    Great poem!
