Give Me A Bite

Updated on July 7, 2017

I Can Think Of Nothing Else

As I sit down to write

One I haven't written yet

About the struggles of life

As I am putting my words together

I have this itch on my arm

I scratch it

It is a bite from being outside last night

I didn't feel it

Maybe it was from a mosquito in the house

That met an untimely death

Each line I go to write

I am distracted by the bite on my arm

I put some hydrocortisone cream with aloe

That usually does the trick

Not this time

I refocus and begin to think new thoughts about my subject

Of my struggles in my past relate to where I am now in my life

I scratch again

All my thoughts seem so foreign to me right now

I lose my concentration and lather my arm up

As if I was putting on suntan lotion

Making sure I don't miss one spot

A few seconds of peace

Only to watch my old thoughts creep

Back into my mind again

My wife is talking to me

How can I listen?

I think in my mind

Can you see what I am dealing with

I go to eat breakfast

I love cereal

I am eating Cheerios

That usually puts a smile on my face

I pulled the milk out and set it on the table

Then I get up and scratch the itch one more time

Now what was I doing

Ah yes getting the milk out of the refrigerator

I go and look into the refrigerator

It is not here

It is sitting on our kitchen table

I got it already

I am losing my mind

All this time

I keep thinking of old problems that drove me crazy

Persistence is the key

Stay positive no matter how bleak the situation may be

To find a way

Not to get off my subject and side tracked

To see each problem from start to finish

I pull myself together

As if I was a half made tent

A little bit wobbly

Still mising some important pieces

Where is that metal elbow that connects to the top of the frame ?

Without it I am doomed

I take a breather

Stepping away from the problem at hand

Trying not to lose my temper

Where could that piece be ?

I know when I had it last

I carefully bagged up each piece

Second guessing myself

Could I have lost a piece ?

It reminds me of the time

I was putting up our fake Christmas tree

I couldn't find the stand

As I scratched my head

What good is a Christmas tree with no stand

I remember now

I put it in another box

It wouldn't fit right

I remember saying

I will remember next year

Well I didn't until now

I went back down the cellar

Here it is mixed with our Easter decorations

Now that was an easy fix

Then there was the time we were making passionate love

I remember my wife getting an awful leg cramp

Lets say that changed the mood instantly

From great to stop

Let's hold off to later

I also remember saying

Later how much later

An hour or a few hours

Later in the afternoon or late at night

My wife responded with a firm later

But we have work and other things to do

Really

You will just have to wait

Then skipping fast forward to another time

When our gas grill wouldn't ignite

I was doing it wrong

You told me to put all burners on

Then I used a long match lighter

Poof boy was I scared

Cutting our cats nails

When I lost my grip

She took a swipe at you

Full disclosure

All her claws out

Near your face

No harm

Boy what could of been

The alarm of a five alarm fire

Waking up late because we slept through the alarm clock

Rushing around trying to get out the door in a hurry

Then there was the time our indoor cat Charotte escaped from prison

Actually it was our loving home

The way she ran

You would think it was the worst place in the world

Hiding outside behind a bush and then under our car

Just as it was getting dark

How we scampered around with her treats

Calling her name a hundred times a minute

When we couldn't see her

Frantic and crazy

Not like parents and mature adults

More like to children on Halloween night

On a sugar high way past their bedtime

So there have been a few examples of the trials and struggles we have seen

Everything to problems in work to our home life

Medical scares and injuries

Close calls when someone cut you off in fast moving traffic

We have had computer and cell phone trouble

More often than we get mail

Each situation could of turned out differently

Life being a series of challenges

Like dominoes lined up one after the other

When one falls they all fall

There is that darn itch again

How can I get anything done

I have been going about this all wrong

Maybe it wasn't about problems of my past

Problems I face at this very moment

So the rain drops off the roof

On to the railing below one drip at a time

My life continues on much the same way

Second by second it ticks along

Leaving traces of all the things I have done and where I have gone

Gypsy Rose Lee Sometimes It takes me awhile to bounce back. I to get on my feet and I get knocked down again. The ground has become my new best friend. Thank you for reading and sharing. It took me so long to post these comments. Lots of issues. When it rains it pours. I wonder who said that first. Boy they were right. Have a good day.

SPeggy Woods I got rid of that itch only to replace it with another one. What are the odds on that ? Thank you for reading and joining me on my journeys. What do you do with bites that you get? No matter how much I spray myself those darn bugs find a spot I missed. I have to laugh instead of cry.

Gypsy Rose Lee Well the itch is gone but I am having printer trouble at this very minute. I like to print out all my comments so I can look back at them at a later date. It gives me great joy to see all the people in my life. A little touch of heaven. I will approve all comments when it I fix the problem. I just wanted to let you know I received your comments with great joy. Some days are a bigger struggle than I would like. I don't seem to have any choice in the matter. Hope you are having a lovely afternoon.Shaloo Walia and it gets more and more interesting. I wonder what problems other people have and if they would be willing to share. I don't know if I can help solve the problem but I know I can match problem for problem. Having fun is important and bringing out our personal best when the chips are down. Make my problems seem really small. Thank you for reading and sharing.Peggy Woods The saga continues... This could turn into a mini series. I wonder if I could make a puzzle out of problems and them when I make the puzzle I can say I solved one challenging problem that gives me practice for the next one. Practice makes perfect. Thank you for also sharing and caring. Many things in my day go extremely well. It is silly to let a few problems bring me down. It still doesn't make it any easier to swallow. It is like being sick and having pills from the doctor that look like horse bills they are so big you can't even swallow them. I sometimes walk away from my problems and hope they fix themselves. Nope the problem is still there. I will take a longer walk this time. I am open to any suggestions they can only help and never hurt.

Sounds like your living in a reality show. I know when things get hectic I always have to have a reality check.

This is like a reality show of your day's activities, moods, frustrations and even bedtime incidents. So real!
