GO QUIET, GO DEEP, GROW WISE

(a poem for wise women)

by Alice Olsen

Out with the trappings of youth!

Out with the hurry to do and to be!

Out with the worries of what others think and see!

In with the knowledge of who YOU are.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Out with thin bodies and athletic arms!

Out with that ticking biological clock!

No more racing, slow to a walk,

Taking in a deep breath of life to just "be".

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Cherish the wrinkles carved by a smile.

Cherish the richness of life lived well.

Cherish the stillness only spirit can fill.

Cherish a heart scarred with love.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

Blessed be the crone leading the dance,

from the known to the unknown,

from now to forever,

from dusk into night into light.

Go quiet, go deep, grow wise.

This is the second poem I have read from you tonight. I look forward to reading more - you have a beautiful way with words.

Well Done! Love the line, "Cherish the stillness only spirit can fill." Beautiful

Very nice. There is wisdom with these words. I like the line "from dusk into night into light." Portrays the adventure undertaken for sure.
