Go Watch The Birds

Updated on June 4, 2014

What A Terrific Idea

When I need to collect my thoughts

If I have been aggravated to no end

Frustrated with a problem I can't solve

Cut my hand in work by accident on a sharp edge I didn't see

Baffled by the news on the television

Surprised by a good friend who hasn't called

Tormented by my cat who picked up a bad habit

Climbing behind the t.v. screen

I carefully call her out so she doesn't knock it over

Tight on money because of recent necessary expenses

Chilled by the rain that makes things look gloomy

Shocked by the news of our good neighbors moving

In pain from an odd ache in my foot for no apparent reason

I have found times like these I have to refocus on the beauty on life elsewhere

Looking out my window I see birds zooming by

Landing on our bird feeder to grab a quick bite

Flying off instantly in all directions

Touching down on the grass lawn only a few feet away

Pecking and hopping so skillfully

As if they were following a specific instructions

Their colors and sizes little bit different than each other

Each sharing the same area

Not bumping into each other or squawking

Making every attempt to fill their stomachs

After a short time it is if a bell had been rung

They all flew off

Maybe never to be seen of again

It makes me appreciate life from all sides

Left out in the open to be seen by the naked eyes

you're very right. you said it at a very right point of time as well. I needed to hear or read that :P Sometimes we know things, but we need to be reminded again and again so that we don't just have the knowledge we implement it too.

Thank you for saying the right thing at the right moment.

it is very difficult to shift focus in situations like the one you described. Those who learn to do it are the ones who learn to find happiness in all situations.

I enjoy reading your poem, and this one was no different!

Gypsy Rose Lee I can see all the birds. What a wonderful place to be. I think I would grab my pad of paper and pen and write sitting under the apple tree. A light breeze tickling under my chin with the sun warming me up again. Thank you for all your comments and grand emotions that make life so special.

I have birds hopping about and singing in my apple tree every morning all summer long. Their really early birds I'll tell you. During the day it's crows cawing and hoping about the garden.

I listen to birds everyday and and even notice the beautiful creatures from a close view. A great idea to let the mind flow easy with simple thoughts.
