Goldfish in a Bowl

Updated on January 9, 2012

Swimming in circles

Looking outside the glass

Searching beyond these walls

Seeing the world from afar

Wishing I could forget the past

Looking beyond the tinted glass

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning

But start today and make a new ending

Interesting... it opened like a child's poem, and then turned about on me. Nicely done! Thank you for sharing it!

Hello David, thank you - simplicity is what I strive for. Do you write poetry?

....hello my friend from lake erie time ontario canada 12:39pm I am sure that we all feel like a goldfish in a bowl from time to time - and your poetic allegory expresses that nicely and precisely.

As for any man who needs to hear someone as special and talented as you through a bullhorn - I'd say dump him - lol - a relationship is all about honesty and communication - take time to listen to each, make that time happen and sit down when it's convenient (because yes life can be a mad rush sometimes) and look at each other face to face and talk - it goes both ways as we all know - it's just a case of two people willing to commit to this idea .....

greetings epigramman from las vegas, nevada. 8:26 pm pacific time.

It's nice to know that others feel like goldfish in a bowl at times. It's when we take that giant leap to freedom and deeper waters that we truly start to live, love and laugh again. I always take the time to smile at a stranger, open the door for someone who is struggling and readily embrace the loved ones in my life.

I couldn't agree more with your comments about honesty and open communication in a relationship.

You know what I loved about this poem? It could be said for many people I know, but then perhaps that was your intent all along. No matter, it is beautifully done, saying so much with so few words.

Thanks billybuc.. Your comment is genuinely appreciated. It still amazes me with how many people could relate to this simple poem.
