Good Versus Evil (a poem of inspiration)

Updated on July 12, 2015
A mighty fortress is our God...
A mighty fortress is our God...
As evil tries to prevail..is lost... and by the goodness, given by our Creator...we will overcome...
As evil tries to prevail..is lost... and by the goodness, given by our Creator...we will overcome...
The angels march and sing...their beautiful chords in a grandest anthem...announcing victory of all goodness...
The angels march and sing...their beautiful chords in a grandest anthem...announcing victory of all goodness...
Evil is overcome and banned to the depths forever...only to be allowed in its use, as the Lord God sees fit...
Evil is overcome and banned to the depths forever...only to be allowed in its use, as the Lord God sees fit...
The angels rejoice...their joyous symphony is heard in the heavens...
The angels rejoice...their joyous symphony is heard in the heavens...
For every wrong...there are ten thousand rights..as is the worship of the Lord God, our creator...
For every wrong...there are ten thousand rights..as is the worship of the Lord God, our creator...
The Lord God's promise to man...the calm and the beautiful shall follow in the day...that which darkens the skies and to worry the brows of man...
The Lord God's promise to man...the calm and the beautiful shall follow in the day...that which darkens the skies and to worry the brows of man...
ASs the angelic voices announce the majesty of the Creator, our Lord God...and His promise of hope.
ASs the angelic voices announce the majesty of the Creator, our Lord God...and His promise of hope.
We shall find peace and rest in the strength of the Lord...
We shall find peace and rest in the strength of the Lord...
The rightful balance, that which is moved to the goodness...forever restored and evermore to stand as the Lord God's own handiwork...
The rightful balance, that which is moved to the goodness...forever restored and evermore to stand as the Lord God's own handiwork...

The goodness of the human spirit...

That most divine gift, to build the souls of man,

Universally given, and of a benevolent source,

Spread across the ages, by God's own hand.

Those to defy...reckoned with in harshest terms...

The Lord God's strength, so confirms.

Evil...a consortium of the demonic brand...

Put in its place, though, never to understand.

Just what purpose, one may ask...just why,

Does evil so have to be given leave, any free reign?

The use of this villain, a brilliant plan of the creator..

For at its worst, the vile one flees, in vain.

The worthy...the good, in its war with all evil,

To overcome the bad, and to subdue...in the end,

The epistle of our Father...for every wrongful act,

There are ten thousand rights, its message to send.

As seen in our history, that of the common man...

The wood-be conqueror of the most majestic land,

Each to fall from their glory, as in their pitiful story,

Then, comes the greater good...its reign, more grand.

Asian and European giants.. who desired to dominate..

Were brought down by their own waste, their greed,

Genghis Kahn, and as so, Alexander the Great..

All's attempt to rule, acts in vain, in every awful deed.

As time marches onward, in every day, so marked,

Just as armies of the evil ones have done...their victories, pale,

The Lord God's own army is such a magnificent force,

As a great fortress and a bulwark, forever to prevail.

The eternal good...that breath of life, which resides in all,

As is the loving seed, placed in every child at their birth,

This bright source, a most powerful force...to be watered,

Nurtured, as a flowering spirit, and of grandest worth.

The evil seed...that which is instilled in the more weak and foolish,

Their hearts, as of such iniquity, to suffer more, in their duration.

This violation, by man's own hands, to be forgiven and cleansed,

Its evilness, of the very sod, from which was born, this aberration.

"A mighty fortress is our God" I'll have that hymn in my brain all day now!

Really enjoyed the imagery the poetry brought up. Thank you

Yes my friend. Many use the excuse that God would not allow tragedy or death. I agree with you on this. whonu

This reminds me of something I read in Joyce Meyer's book " God is not mad at you!" Because of the evil in this world, we are able to recognize the mercy and grace of God. His love is so powerful in a world where evil exists, that its truly amazing for those who recognizes it. Choosing to do good can be hard but thank goodness we have our sword (bible) and His spirit to help us along the way. Many people feel God has left us in a cruel world with no protection; but the truth is He has given us every necessary tool to survive, and all we need to do is abide in His word and trust it. Voted up and awesome.

Perhaps if we were given one truth instead of many possibilities, it would all play out in a better way. What do you think?

In the midst of the struggle between these two forces, your lines give us hope:

The Lord God's own army is such a magnificent force,

As a great fortress and a bulwark, forever to prevail.

Thank you and thank God for you.
