Goodbye, My Love

Updated on June 1, 2013

This is dedicated to my youngest sister, Mary Beth and her three beautiful sons, Ryan, Drew, and Alex, in loving memory of their beloved husband and father, John.

Goodbye, My Love

Sometimes life was
an uphill climb,
but I was yours
and you were mine.
Hand in hand
we sought the goal,
each a half,
that made the whole.
But then one day
the angels came
and life will never
be the same.
How does one
now learn to live
with half a heart
and none to give?
But for the sake
of all concerned,
the light of you
within still burns
and with the help
of God above
I'll learn to live
without you, Love,
And keep
the memory alive
of the goal
for which we strived
until the day that
we shall meet
at Heaven's Gate
and Jesus' Feet.
Know that you
live in my heart
and though we now
are far apart...
the memories
will never die
that bind the hearts
of you and I,

FOREVER.

Thank you, Oscarlites. My youngest sister lost her husband suddenly two years ago yesterday. He was 46, and her soul mate. She and her boys still grieve, and miss him terribly. I wrote this initially for her two years ago but reposted it for her now. I appreciate your visit and great comment! Blessings!
