Desert in Your Hand
I lost you I lost me,
lost that place we're meant to be,
lost that look in your eye,
don't know the reason why.
The days just go so fast,
we think they're going to last,
but they fade right out of view.
Time is spent before your through.
Twenty years you've spent asleep,
dreaming of those things you want to keep,
but it all seems to fly,
in the twinkle of an eye.
Words you've left unsaid,
seem to pass right through your head,
images of trust you seem to hold,
on the pages of life you fold.
You embrace another day,
when your dreams come out to play,
it's not always what you do,
when the spotlight shines on you.
Can you hold a grain of sand,
in the desert on your hand,
or push against the breeze,
as the pressure tries to squeeze.
Can your thoughts pass through your mind,
while your memories try to bind,
it's just the truth that tries to cleave,
from your mind all you believe.
Where's the day, where's the night,
new horizons beaming bright,
all that's said all that's done,
time seems to wait for no-one.
