Granny Dear

Updated on February 25, 2013

I want to know if you are fine

Or what's inside your mind.

Because lately you're so silent,

And your eyes look violent.

In the morning you forget

To smile and wave at sunshine.

Never walk outside anymore to get

A breathe of fresh breeze from tall pines.

Don't want to comb your hair

Or even to brush your teeth.

Always sitting on the stair

For hours staring at your feet.

Your mind, every time, wanders

everywhere, but nothing you can remember.

Husband's picture in your hand,

Yet you don't know him, can't pretend.

Soul's dull and empty,

Shattered dreams and promises,

Cold sweat and lifeless body,

Collided hate and happiness.

Traveled back to the past,

Lost your way to the future,

Knowledge and beauty never last,

Life's a journey, a never-ending adventure.

Though time stole your youth,

You are a goddess, that's the truth.

Voted up and beautiful. That's one of the things that scare people about growing old - losing a part of themselves. Lucky are those who age gracefully and remain active in mind. Lovely poem. Do you have such a granny?
