Gratitude

Updated on October 09, 2014

One hard lesson learned -

Even unconditional love may not endure

Gratitude

Your words - I love you unconditionally - no matter what you decide

I counted on those words not to be a lie

To this very day, they are words that I embrace and hold

They wrap me in comfort like a blanket in the cold

It's hard to open up, to be so open and exposed

Wondering if I'll still be loved once I'm really known

Can I trust you to still be there when I am less than perfect

And will I still have on you a positive effect

Love, after all, keeps no record of wrongs

And love is supposed to endure through it all

Therefore, I still count on those words

But I hope more than words the heart is heard

Even if you no longer want anything to do with me

I have to choose to believe

That love is and always was the prevailing attitude

And for that you have my undying gratitude

My Friend

Just love me

love me unconditionally

Love me when I'm broken

trying to put myself together again

Love me even if I've been rude to you

I'm human, I didn't mean to

Love me past all the things that bother

And see all the good I have to offer

Love me even if you know more than just my happy

Because that's all that I most need

Aw, Jodah. I'm glad when people can relate to something I write. I don't necessarily do it with that goal in mind, but it makes me feel like maybe I wrote something meaningful, at least to someone. Thank you.

What wonderful poetry. This is all I ask in love. Great job and all couples should read them.

It's hard, Eric, to trust that anyone will still be there no matter what, that a person's love cannnotbe lost.

Like I always say and feel, take me for who I am, not for who you want me to be. If that is done, I'm grateful. Awesome Shan...
