Top 11 Life Changing, Purpose Finding, Books I've Read

Updated on September 28, 2017

Must Read Evergreen Books for 2017 and Beyond

This site is about some essential life changing books that I absolutely recommend. Ten years ago I began reading an inordinate amount of books. I started to read out of necessity, as I learned from a mentor of mine, that in order to gain an edge in business and in life, it was critical that I become voracious reader. So a reader I became, averaging about three books per month. If my math is right, this means that I've read somewhere around 288 books. Out of these 288 or so books I've come to really appreciate 11. Okay I appreciated a whole lot more than 11; however, there are 11 absolute superstars of all the books I have read. This lens is about those 11 life changing books. Therefore, I present the books that I recommend to any and all who are looking for resources to change your life .... for the better, the books that can help you find what you are truly looking for, 11 books that will inspire you and guide you to think and grow in a new and exciting way, here are my TOP 11 LIFE CHANGING, PURPOSE FINDING BOOKS OF ALL TIME (They Are Subject to Change of Course).

In addition to the top 11, I have also recommended the one book that I think has the most potential to help kids find their purpose and make significant life changes early, so be sure to take a look at it if you have kids. Happy reading!

Converse with the Wise

"The reading of all good books is like conversation with the finest men of the past centuries." - Rene Descartes

This is It: THE LIST - Top 11 Life Changing Books

  1. The Saint, The Surfer, and The CEO. by Robin Sharma

This is a terrific book that captures the essence of being and gently guides its readers to an inviting world of wholeness and possibility. This book really put so much of my life into perspective, and made me realize that I wanted to do more, be more, and not in your typical material sense either. After reading this book on purpose, I felt whole and realized deep down inside how close I was to becoming my best self. I highly recommend this book. If you are interested in it too, you can learn more about it by clicking HERE.

Also, if you are interested in Robin Sharma in general, perhaps you might want to visit his formal website sometime to learn of some of his other life changing books when you have the will be worth it: Just go to

  2. End The Struggle and Dance With Life by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D

I used to work in a really cushy and safe corporate environment and made a move into self-employment a couple of years ago which had me worrying like crazy for my financial well being. After a couple months of experiencing stressed induced illnesses I found this baby. This book was so powerful in helping me live a better life. Honest to goodness as I read through this book I felt my life and general well being get easier, happier, and lighter. Stress was gone, worry was gone, and years later they have yet to rear their ugly little heads. It's an absolutely amazing and life changing book. You can learn more about this book by clicking HERE. And if you want to know more about this awesome author check out her website Susan also has another book called Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, which is a book worthy of your time as well.

  3. How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Wow...this is a book I would recommend to every single human alive. Seriously!! This is a book that I believe if everyone read and studied, the world would be a dramatically different place. Have you ever wondered why people are so weird or different, and then had an extremely difficult time dealing with them at work, in business, or in the necessary social gathering? Well, this book put it all into perspective for me and really allowed me to not only accept the intricacies of human relations for what they were, but gave me a leg up by showing me how to effectively and positively handle and manage individuals in almost every type of situation. I've added a link to a page that will give you more info into his works. This books is a must read as it will provide you with skills that you didn't think you needed, and as a result can seriously help you change or improve your life: HERE

  4. Faust by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

A somewhat tragic read but a classic. This story has philosophical gems of insight that will leave you forever better, nobler, and wiser for reading it. If you are not ready to go to your local library to check out this book on purpose, but still curious about the gist of this storyline and more content go HERE

  5. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

This book contains a secret, one which has been put to a practical test by thousands of people from every walk of life. I believe this book truly contains the fundamentals of what is needed to create the richness and wealth one seeks in life. This potentially life changing book outlines specific tactics which will lead you to your ultimate goals. If you really want to get the most out of his material, the Napoleon Hill Foundation has been set up in honor of his work, to check it out go HERE

  6. Real Magic by Dr. Wayne Dyer

An eye opening, life changing book. I was extremely skeptical and thought myself to be a "know-it-all" before exploring this book. I gained immense trust/faith in life and in myself while reading this. Through this book, Wayne Dyer ultimately shifted my whole experience in life to one which was once again comprised of wonder, possibility, potential, and faith. A magnificent read with potential to put the magic spark back into your life. He has a pretty neat website, that lists some of his other life changing books. To learn more go HERE

  7. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

I read this years ago but the principles taught in this book have stuck with me ever since. Robert teaches significant principles on finances and investing which helps people realize that wealth, money, and early retirement aren't just ideas and realities experienced by the rich or by celebrities, but rather, easily attainable circumstances that can be created by anyone who wants it. You'll gain a new financial consciousness and learn excellent ideas that may be a huge shift from what you've been taught or previously known about money, and will ultimately prove more promising. If interested in learning more about his community of individuals seeking more financial knowledge go HERE

  8. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

This book will completely revolutionize your thinking about yourself and about spirituality. This book, if read thoroughly and seriously, can transform your thinking and bestow upon you an existence filled with more joy, awareness, peace, and meaning..NOW. I highly recommend this book on purpose. To get it, click HERE

In addition, the author, Eckhart Tolle, has a pretty nice website too...if you want to learn more about him, you can do so at

  9. Tribes by Seth Godin

A phenomenal book by the master of marketing. I've read almost all of Seth Godin's books but this one really galvanized my soul. Seth plays the role of professional disturber in this one, provoking his readers to get off of their couch of comfort and lead. It's an easy read, however it is packed with powerful nudges of encouragement and personal challenges that will leave you dying to get started on your personal movement to positively help change your world or industry. It is not necessarily a book on purpose, but it does give some good direction. Visit his website/blog HERE.

  10. Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche

An extremely philosophical book and a very difficult read. As claimed by the Author, it is a "book for all and a book for none". This statement struck me as a personal challenge by the author, so I read the book a couple of times. Actually, only after reading this book a couple of times will it make be patient. In all seriousness though, this book will probably offend or anger you and at the very least disturb you, but after it is all said and done, this book is in my mind great, as it was created in order to push individuals at all levels of their existence to surpass what they now know and experience in order to become and overcome themselves again and again. Think kaizen principles and self development to the extreme. The book is definitely a life changing book if studied and taken seriously. Want to know more? I would suggest starting with wikipedia HERE

  11. As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

This book has really had a huge impact on my KABOOM IMPACT!! The content can be a bit "philosophic with slightly poetic overtones", but I believe its worth powering through, primarily because it dives so deep, getting to the roots of why our lives are the way they are. The book helps its readers see how powerful their own thinking can be in the creation of their individual circumstances, while simultaneously guiding readers towards ways of thinking that can improve those circumstances. Truly, this book is a gem, and anyone who earnestly studies this book, and seeks to apply the ideas and concepts suggested to their own lives, will see amazing and positive developments surface in proportion to the intensity of your efforts.

Did you enjoy the list? I certainly hope so. These life changing books really touched my life and believe or not, helped me ultimately find my purpose. I found that one of the trickiest things about finding one's purpose is being able to implement it into a practical way of making a living. If you are like me, and know what you really want to do with your life, but just can't seem to pull it all together in a way that has you doing it full time, reading these books will help.

"Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune."

New!!! Life Changing Book Debate - Self-leadership Vs. Literature

I've always been curious to find outwhat books inspire change in other people. For me, I've been most inspired by books written by other successful people who give specific tip/ideas on how to improve in a particular area. This genre is typically known as self-help, but I like to refer to it as self-leadership. Of course, I've also read a few classical literature pieces that have equally moved me and inspired me to be better. So what's you pick and why?

Which type of book have you found to inspire/move you the most?

"The difference between where you are today and where you'll be in 5 years from now will be found in the quality of books you've read"

Thank You

Thanks for visiting! I hope you found a book that you can't wait to read, and even more so, I sincerely hope it changes your life, even if only a little!

If you have the time please send me your two cents or your top list, and if you are really kind, perhaps you can even leave us with a short explanation as to why.

Thanks in advance. You're AWESOME!!!

Fantastic lens! 108 books - I'd say that makes you an expert on this particular topic. I rarely have time to read, but when I do, I like to read fictional thriller/suspense and non-fiction. The next time I've got time, I'd read 'End Struggle and Dance with Life since I have a chronic illness and could use some help in that area.

One of my favorite books was The End of Poverty by Jeffrey got me started working with Millennium Promise which is one of the charities that I support wholeheartedly (wrote a lens about it). The only downside to the book was you can only digest about 10 pages at a time because it has a lot of detail about economics.

      Thanks for the tips!
