Grief - A Poem

Updated on August 1, 2013
Source

Grief

It grips your heart with its iron fist

And squeezes out every drop of love

That once coursed through your body;

Every ounce of joy you once felt;

Every moment of peace you once had.

Grief

It reaches into the very depths of your soul

And tears out the life you once lived,

Replacing it with hopelessness and despair

Grief

It blinds you with hatred and rage;

Knocks you to your knees, and

Sucks the very breath from your lungs,

Leaving you begging for the grave

      I think the best things come from the depths of the soul, laid out in the open for all to see.

      Very emotional poem of feelings deep inside. Takes much courage to share with others.
