Guitar Haiku

Updated on November 25, 2015

Haiku Guitar?

Looking back I realise that I've been playing guitar as a hobby for well over forty years! That's amazingly difficult for me to believe. I still often feel like a teenage beginner enjoying the thrill of discovering new sounds, techniques and songs. Forty years of memories, feelings, emotions, expression, blues, and so much more that I felt I needed a vehicle to try to capture some of the essence of my guitar joy. And what better than haiku? Enjoy!

evoking passion

as i hold you to my chest

let us make music

turn the machine heads

playing an old chinese song

we call it tune ing

overwhelming joy

sounds like you cannot believe

a new set of strings

voice of yesteryear

making beautiful music

my lovely guitar

finding voice again

after a long rest in case

now making music

fits beneath my arm

like it’s part of my body

lets out what’s within

expressing myself

flowing deep inside of me

the sound resonates

not bob or hendrix

this one flows from deep within

this is my own song

listening for the space

the sound that happens in flow

brings tears to my eyes

rushing up the neck

playing some ass-kicking blues

pentatonic scale

my present to me

full-on sound of the twelve string

hand made yamaha

tears spring from our eyes

your smile my smile intertwined

we’re caught in the flow

we’re just two lost souls

we played so much together

i wish you were here

on your own upright

and mostly thanks to your name

standing ovation

The Old Guitarist - Picasso

where does it come from

words seep through from time gone past

muscle memory

Thanks Larry. Yes, getting caught in the flow (particularly in music) is wonderful, and to be lucky enough to be sharing, and get caught in the flow at the same time as someone else is a life-time experience. Thanks as always for your comments.

Heavenly haiku, Russ... I particularly liked:

" tears spring from our eyes

      your smile my smile intertwined

we’re caught in the flow ".

A 12 string guitar !! Now that is some serious fingering..

      Great pics...Thanks for this...Larry

Thanks Tony, it's playing so well now that it's mellowed.
