Haiku - Love Through the Years: Chapter 1

by

Dr. Darryl Winer

We met as children

Kindred spirits, hand in hand

She a year younger

The games of childhood

Laughter, comfort, contentment

Built the foundation

Confidences shared

The joy of each other’s touch

Secrets to explore

Innocent, naive

Inadvertent caresses

Kindling the fire

Inexplicable

Hard to tell, something’s amiss

Aching when apart

The sense of knowing

Communication by heart

Without words or thoughts

Sweet, gentle kisses

Confusing, without intent

Expressing chaste love

In short fleeting months

Gentle becomes insistent

Intoxicating

Her hands draw him near

Her mouth eagerly seeks his

Her arms welcome him

The heat of her breath

Moist lips urging him forward

His face curves to hers

Hands glide down her back

Her body leaps to his touch

Sharing urgency

Not knowing what’s next

Angular with one purpose

Demand they both sense

Silently pleading

Self-conscious and awkward hands

Expose frenzied flesh

The cradle of man

Tension, sweet and unknown ere

Lost in sensation

Unimagined heat

Bodies, wet, undivided

Moments in a blaze

Even breaths again

Faces hidden in damp hair

Traces of scarlet

A unique knowing

Pristine, sparkling awareness

Ripening young love

Beautifully and tastefully done. A word picture of awakening love. Very nice.

DW- such a touching, sensually induced story, what a magic, really! How charming and sweet. Love the pictures, they do the trick well. =) What fascinates me the most is that the story goes through the years. Knowing fickleness of human nature it makes your creation standing out in the most beautiful way possible. And the Haiku are just perfect, I like them, the twists and the depth, they remind me of sparks - tiny but powerful enough to create a fire of mind-blowing proportions =)

      Hi Beyond-

Thank you for the encouragement. I guess I see this story played out over 3 or 4 chapters. Sensuality, for example, will always be a part of the lives of the main characters, regardless of age, but it matures with them. As Perspycacious noted above, it begins with awakening love, that raw, explosive dawning but it must continue growing according to its true nature.

      Thanks again.

You described the beginning of love perfectly. Very steamy for haiku.

      Hi Philly-

Yes, it did get somewhat steamy. Young love, played out in three line vingettes capturing the heat of the moments. I would like to think that this is touching on the essence of the subject matter. Presenting the feelings, emotions, and actions comprising the subject.

      Thanks for dropping by.
