Haiku for Fall

I love this time of year when my senses are bombarded with a riot of colour in the park, in the grocery store and on the street where we live. Welcoming delicious vegetables back into the kitchen for soups and other heartening dishes. Walking in Beacon Hill Park Victoria today I was inspired to write some Haiku's to Fall.

Canvass of Colour

Green leaves turn to red

Vibrant yellows and orange

adorn trees and paths

Leaves crunch underfoot

like gems scattered on grass

contrasts of colour.

Majestic and tall

deciduous conifers

turning bright yellow

The air is now crisp

summer makes her departure

fresh smells stimulate.

Assorted Maples

Blazing red, orange and brown

Autumn foliage.

Squirrels run and hide

burying food for winter.

Crops are gathered in.

Earths final statement

before winters arrival

canvass of colour.

      Lovely hub!

Love the color of Fall although spring is my favorite season of all. (: Great job on haiku. It's not that easy to compose this kind of poem but you did it so well with beautiful words. I had my first attempt too and recently hub about it. I'm glad it turned out well for me.

      Voting up and all.

CriSp thank you. I will check out your haiku too. They are challenging but if they don't flow then I stop.

Thank you Arren123 - the colurs in Canada are quite different from the UK. I feel fortunate to have experienced both.

      Hi Lizam1,

Those are such beautiful haiku for this wondrous season! There is something in the deep simplicity of the haiku form that lends itself to the fall. I always find the fall to be a time of reflection and interior meditation on the year past and dreams of the future.

These little poems evoke beautifully not only the natural changes of this season but the sense of peace and slowing down that it evokes - for me at any rate.

Thank you so much for such a beautiful moment in my day!
