Autumn Haikus

Haikus for Autumn

by

Dr. Darryl Winer

Summer’s green is gone.

Winter’s white is not yet here

Autumn’s color falls down

Rustling leaves the sound

Autumn’s color covers the ground

Joy for eyes and ears

Vivid leaves hold on tightly

Not yet ready to let go

Winter has plans though

Fat furry bunnies

Little bastards ate my grass

Rabbit stew sounds good

Gardens fade to brown

Behold the withering plants

No more tomatoes

Despair, grieve and wail

Carefully tended gardens

Have given their all

School bells ring their hail

The swimming pool’s just a dream

What it’s like in jail

Shorter days, cool nights

Summer’s heat a memory

Winter’s cold a bite

The cold menaces

Threatening, jeering, beware

From two months hence

Falling leaves, forsooth

Summer’s flowers bid adieu

Pine trees know the truth

Five score and ten days

Summer passes with a breeze

Fall holds back the freeze

A harsh horizon

Sun in the rear view mirror

Fall’s glory rising

      Hi Beyond-

Why am I not surprised to hear that? I imagine the entire universe revolves around AusLand, or at the very least the sun.

LOL Doc, you are right, we are upside down! But, you know, we have some funny maps and globes that show the world upside down and where AusLand is, in fact, centered =) But that's just for fun and to feed our outback ego =)

Aren't the seasons backward where your are? Or are they backward here? Hmmm.

I did it all wrong, I go reading backwards the seasons (stoopid me!)

Now, - I'm a chilling Autumn wind... I have to go back to Spring to get warmed up again! =)
