Half Way There And Feeling Great

Updated on September 17, 2014

Looking Ahead

So many answers and a lot more questions

Living life has it's ups and downs to put it lightly

The ups are estatic moments that bring me unbelievable amounts of pure satisfaction

The downs are my pitfalls ,setbacks and disasters

Included could be the biggest failures of my life

In between are endless priceless experiences

Together they sum up my life

When I was young I had a dream different than most boys

So many of my peers knew what they wanted to do

They also believed that it would be their career for life

Not me

All I knew is whatever I was going to do

I wanted to love it with great passion

All I really knew is I wanted to do it for a long time

I had one goal is to live to be over one hundred years old

So everything I planned on doing had to bring me closer to that goal and not farther away

A chore for many people

The greatest challenge of my life

To have fun but avoid any unnecessary risks that could cause lifelong injuries

That would cause me to regret my choice the rest of my life

I know my genes play a major part in my health

Combined with a positive attitude and a willingness to survive

I will find way to make things happen

So here I stand proudly

Having enjoyed a surprise 50th birthday party thanks to my wife

Sharing a milestone with friends and family

I am overwhelmed I have made it this far

Each day forward one step closer to my ultimate goal

Living a long and fulfilling life

Now I can learn from my mistakes and continue the journey on

Reaching out to every person who influenced me in some way

Thanking them here and many times in the future

I know I could never have gone this far if it wasn't for my parents

Who did their best to teach me right from wrong

Sharing love every chance you get

All the good memories that I can hold on to and reflect on when needed

They both have passed but I believe they are watching me

I have always tried to make them happy and in so doing

Gave my personal best and exceeded above my own limits

Loving God and all people

Who make up my life

The Big 50 is something very special

Ask anyone who has already made it

Maybe they would come and share

Their journey here

Gypsy Rose Lee I think after living fifty years I should be able to have my whole life the way I want it. I am not there yet but working and striving to reach my goals. Enjoying every day as if I was so many years younger. The best thing I can say is I can relate to older as well as young people. Thank you so much for reading and giving me wonderful tips toward a happy and healthy future.

Always remember that 50 is only a number. There are many more wonderful things coming up in your life and you'll see that it's going to shine.

Great tribute to the people in your life and also a great way to mark your 50th - belated happy birthday!

I sincerely hope you make 100 - if you're blessed with good health and you look after yourself, then why not? Will you still be writing on hubpages? I won't be around to see you get to 100 as I'm way past 50 already but there's no harm in trying!

The goal to score a century is possible, but age is only a number don't miss the magic of life by focusing on the destination, take time to savor the journey. We learn from the ups and the downs, the good times and the bad. Keep holding and reflecting on those memories, they are the treasures we collect along the way. Congratulations on your 50th.
