Happiness; A look from my perspective

Updated on July 6, 2014

Happiness

What is it?

What does it mean?

Is the meaning of happiness

different for each individual?

Well, to me happiness means

total content with my life.

Sounds like a big thing to achieve.

Not really if you think about it.

Sometimes there are negative

situations in our life.

When this happens

we as society get stressed.

Stress causes unhappiness.

However, you can turn that

stress around.

How, you ask?

For me, I think of the good

in my life.

I think of how there are

those who have it worse.

Financial problems are the norm.

Family problems occur.

But why not try to solve these problems?

Why let it make you unhappy?

A job can cause anxiety and stress,

but having no job can make it worse.

Happiness for me is feeling a sense

of warmth, love and gratitude

for my life.

Happiness is feeling good,

being with family and friends.

Happiness is a roof over my head,

food on the table,

clothes to wear.

Aren't these necessities, you ask?

Sure, but without them

you would be unhappy.

Happiness is spending time

with my grandchildren,

my spouse, my children.

Happiness is often noticed

by laughter, a smile

or a simple gestures as a hug.

Sure life is tough,

but I'm alive.

Sure I'm not rich,

but I have a job

and the bills eventually get paid.

Sure I may not be in the best of health,

however, there are those who

are less fortunate than me.

A funny movie can make you smile,

that smile turns into a laugh.

Remembering the good old days

can bring you happiness.

Having family and friends over

for a barbecue can bring you happiness.

So, think about the good times,

don't dwell on the past.

Avoid negative and unhappy people.

They will only bring you to an unhappy place.

I think happiness comes from within us.

We are the ones who need to

let it in our hearts and in our soul.

Have you tried Happiness yet?

You should.

It's a beautiful thing.

I couldn't agree with you more. Happiness comes within our being. If you look around you see so many people who appear unhappy, yet they have everything they need, then a poor family seems more content with little. Beautiful message. Contentment is a wonderful emotion.

It is interesting how our happiness has a lot to do with our attitude in life! When we look at how things could be different, and the are for many people, we realize that what we have is the best for us.

I love your perspective on happiness. It is a choice we make each day, and I choose to be happy come what may. As long as we are living, we will face many trials of many kinds, which may cause us much heartache, disappointment, pain, sadness and those are part of this path we call life. I know that each day matters, and I do not want to waste another minute choosing to live without joy. Just taking a walk on a lovely day, one can appreciate the beauty all around us, like a tiny bird singing a song.

Thank you for sharing your perspective here.
