Happiness and Tears
Happiness
Happiness and Tears
For me happiness was hearing the first cry of my son upon his birth.
And the first glimpse of him in the hospital room.
Such a delicate touch of his tender skin,
Filled a mother’s heart with sheer joy and happiness.
For me happiness was watching his milestones as he grew up,
From a tiny baby into a handsome young man.
And the first time he stood up by himself.
His first step forward – walking – running.
A mother can’t be anything but happy to see her son’s progress.
Remember the day he fell down and hurt himself,
The next moment he picked himself up and walked again.
For me happiness was watching him win a swimming competition,
And remember the days he won in fancy dress competition dressed as,
A mermaid, butterfly, goat, princess of Lilliput, on different occasions.
Happiness
Happiness
Happiness was watching him recover from a physical illness
And getting back to routine duties again.
What joy greeted us upon his first job after the graduation.
Happy as this was the best job he held
And learned the minute details of his job.
Sad when he lost job after job due to an illness which struck him.
Happy when he was in a job, sad when he lost one.
Make the present phase a happy one O’ God
Let my son be in a nice job and healthy
Let a beautiful future await him
A caring boss guide him at work.
A mother who understands his unspoken words,
Happiness – happiness – happiness
Yes, happiness – for a doting single mother, and her only son.
Happiness for us ..... always ..... always .....
God Bless.....

Kulsum, for a single parent, specially for a mother her child is her world. .. her days & nights revolves round her child, in prayers, well wishes & all that adds to the betterment of her child to see him happy & successful every way...each and every moment in her child life is precious and gives her a reason to live...me too a single parent of two boys...so i can understand this better !......lovely poem, i enjoyed it a lot..thankyou for the sharing!
and, here is a sher from my Ghazal to compliment your poem -
"Gham aur khushi me kaisi yaksaniyat si hai,
Dono ki inteha me umad padte hain aansu"
Nothing brings greater joy than a child to a mother's heart.
