Have we met ?... A love poem

Updated on January 10, 2013
Source

Is it possible that we have met before?

As you stare at me across the floor

The way my heart beats so fast

Have we met in some forgotten past?

Why is that I cannot look away?

Wanting you to have something to say

Do I know you from another place?

There is something familiar to your face

Tell me handsome stranger

Can you feel this strange power?

That holds me spellbound with a look

Like some old romance book

Can you see the same thing as I?

As I look deep in your eyes

Do you feel as I do?

And wonder if it can be true

Source

Did we dance in the starlit night

Where every move felt so right

Have you whispered in my ear

All the things I needed to hear

Have we kissed beside a fire?

Lost in passion and desire

How do I see this in your eyes?

And feel my hearts eager cry

As your fingers gently take mine

Peeling back the layers of time

For a moment we both can see

What fate has always decreed

Two lives entwined forever

That time and death cannot sever

So as we move to this first dance

Both hearts falling entranced

Whisper your name in the candlelight

As we fall in love at the very first sight…

This is lovely. But I wonder whether it would be more compelling if it didn't rhyme? I liked the sentiment you were presenting, but found the rhyming quite distracting.

Excellent poem. Brings to life the feelings of that first glance, the first spark.

I have to admit I didn't post this at first, as it didn't feel right when I reread over it. But at the urging of a friend I decided I was being too fussy. But I think you are right it would be great to explore the theme in another medium...

Thanks for an honest comment I do appreciate it :)

      Hi NightWag:

I see you yes, and as you say, we are but one along one very eternal way

The universe is ours to rule, so what if a curse may upset our very, very cool

Yes we are as you say “Two lives entwined forever

That time and death cannot sever” or separate

I seek your eyes and our just moment of sublime pain

As I bare my fangs and think of seven

A number lost in space and time and Transylvanian heven

A robed dark knight I am, of night not day

We are forever ………..a wag of Australian timeless, endless sand

      Rubbed the wrong way!!!

      Cool!

I really enjoyed your answer to this my love poem, your take on it was just right :)

I myself have never been good at rhyming on the go, every line seems to take an hour to create so I just love it when others such as yourself expand so nicely on what it already written :)

nothing like sharing the inspiration ...

      thanks!
