Having a Writing Niche
I don’t think I have a niche
If you look at my previous posts you might notice that I don’t have a set niche. I don’t specialise in any set topic. To be honest I don’t even think I am brave enough to say I specialise in anything. But I love researching new things because it gives me ideas for what I should write about and I get to learn along the way.
My writing is random
I’ve talked about breakups, I have recipes, I write short stories, my posts are just random topics. And I feel that it represents me and my writing a lot more than one topic could. Maybe I do have a niche but I haven’t figured it out yet. Can randomness be a niche?
I can't focus on one topic only
I find it hard to focus on one topic, no matter how many paths you can take with it. If I was a food blogger, even though there are millions of recipes, I would get bored. I like having the freedom because if I want to write about dinosaurs (I love reading and writing about prehistoric creatures) I will, if I want to write about anxiety medication I can. Or maybe I need to practice self-discipline and just write about one topic only, even if it does kill my will to write.
Is it true?
They say to be successful sometimes you have to write about things you don’t care about. Do you think it’s true? I find that sad because someone out there would enjoy writing the thing you despise writing. I just like being me, and I like my writing to show that. Am I being over-dramatic?
What are your thoughts on this? Are you passionate about a certain topic or do you like to dabble?
