"He Grant Me" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"He Grant Me"

Many a splendored thing

All the joy the presents of soul may bring

Here we are, this blessed gift of breath

Life affirming, salvation granted through death

On a park bench sitting together in awe of the sky

Scraping the air, grasping, questioning is there anything on high

And then...back into the rabble we sit, the devil be disguised in style

Damned be these sensations, these temptations that come with a smile

Damn me, I couldn't see the horns, and neither could you

He grant me, free will, and a spirit to pull us through

And with these wings we can fly swiftly out of the grip

A test it is living amongst mountains, especially when you slip

So with pride we try to find balance, and then, of course, here comes the fall

On a park in New York City, in awe of the scope, in awe of it all

It's madness, and it's grey it all seems, when light and dark are mixed and everyone is at play

But look, it's clear and sunny in Central Park, so clear in fact, you can see the four horseman on Madison, they are trotting and on their way

Symbols of conquest, war, famine and death

Symbols before us, on a park bench in New York, it feels like only the two of us left

But really we're sitting here side by side and we're all alone

He grant me, friendship, and then I saw you turn to stone

And you were cold, but there was still warmth inside your eyes

Two souls, sitting on a park bench under an orange colored sky

So we talked of pressure, and how it builds and builds, and then there is nowhere else for the energy to go

Released and taken, taken and released, salvation from this pressure, mercy, mercy, mercy it was I know

Aaahh ... a touching one, bro. Light, hope, darkness ...

"It's madness, and it's grey it all seems, when light and dark are mixed and everyone is at play." -Eric Flynn.

      Wonderful Poetry.
