Heart of Gold

Updated on February 9, 2014

Heart of Gold,

You know who you are.

This song’s for you.

In menial tasks,

Endless house chores,

Mundane made glorious

By a heart of gold.

In brunt of sufferings

Tears shed and shared.

Inside a heart of gold

We share a space.

A look

A hug

Erase the pain,

My heart of gold.

Outburst of joy,

I’ve found the heart of gold

I’ve searched a lifetime.

What are words?

What was said?

Nothing …

Yet this:

Breaking through the clouds,

Unbearable joy

Bursting through the dam

Of past heartbreaks.

Immeasurable treasure---

Unstoppable joy,

I’ve found my heart of gold.

In songs

and rhyme shared,

Souls shining,

Touching a Rainbow.

Meet me halfway

Beyond my faults,

My inferior self

We met,

My heart of gold

And I.

In Loggin’s song

It’s easy to see

The pained heart

To a golden Star.

My dream with song

Foretold of paradise---

Hearts of gold shining

Everywhere I went

in Calaca.

Heart of gold

You know who you are.

You see me. I see you.

Because you have

A heart of gold.

Hi Eric, thanks for the affirmation, for sharing the truth you found in your own experience. Indeed it’s true what they say---we all look different but deep inside we are the same. Through our joys and pains, "seeing" from a golden heart we share the same space---a shelter for everyone.

Our existence is made of such treasure and our being is less than that which is given us.

I love to be on less than. It reminds me to unpuff my chest and to love without restraint.

This is a tough time of year for us. My son's mother came home early and we celebrate. But a four year old is just too possessive of his mom being home, so dad is left discarded.

And so then I read your poem and it lifts me up and makes the stars brighter and the moon more lifting. Glory to that which makes love better!

And you are such an angel!
