Her Kisses

Updated on July 28, 2014

She was a restless soul

Who came into his life

She was so beautiful

That she seemed to him

Like a fragile dream

That would be here today

And gone tomorrow

But when they came together

They were like soul mates

They fell in love

It was like such bliss

But it seemed that he couldn’t

Pin her down

Couldn’t make her want to stay

Oh, she loved him

He knew that for sure

But as one day slipped into another

She was like a restless being

Once again she’d go away

And the nights were the hardest

He’d remember the words they shared

He’d remember the kisses

Of passion that seared their souls

He’d remember and he couldn’t find any peace

Then she’d come back

And beg him to forgive her

Remind him of the love they shared

And he’d be content

To go on again

Then he’d beg her

To never go away

They’d be like one again

Sharing kisses in the night

Passion till the morning light

Day in and day out

Always wanting to be together

Until those restless feelings came back

And he’d see that she was drifting away

He wondered why it had to be so

He wondered how to make her stay

It was then that he decided

To tell her just how he felt

And when they were together

He held her oh, so tight

He told her of his love

Told her of the nights

When she went away

How the memory of her kisses

Stayed in his mind

When she realized

How much love he had for her

She knew she’d found a home

A love for a lifetime

Nothing to fear

And as they held each other

And kissed long into the night

They knew that their love

Would go on even

In the morning light

Beautiful piece! I loved it! Flawless write and magnificent use of all your techniques. There is a simplistic lovely perfection in your choice of words, and the placement of each. Your voice is clear and beautiful here, as I've come to learn it always has been. The descriptions you chose really allowed me to not only feel the poem but to see it before me. Thank you for writing this one.

      Voted up!

She sure did Manatita. Sometimes we choose well and sometimes we don't.

It's one of those times we wonder why we always cling onto someone, don't we?

Rasma, each of your story poems is unique and beautiful; each tells the story of love, romance, doubt, hope, and a kind parable about life. Beautiful writing. :-)

I wondered why she kept going away, it was because she did not trust him until he showed her that his love was permanent. For me, I would have liked it better if they'd waited until they were married for the passion bit, but I guess I'm old fashioned.

It seems it took her a while to realize their true love, but at least she did and he wonders no more.

      Beautiful, Rasma!

      Hi,

That was beautiful and if everyone would just communicate with each other---what a wonderful world this would be.

But then what would we write poems about?

      Take care,

      Bobbi Purvis
