The life within her

Blocked

By her walls

That were built

One by one

On top of the other

Protection

She didn't think

She needed

Before

A pale cellophane

Came first

To cover up the

Deep pain

Second time around

Thicker bound

A membrane

Leaving no sound

Left her protected

A little more

Resistance from the pound

Increasing in depth

Every year

Becoming harder

Tougher

With fear

The gates grew taller

So tall nobody could climb in

Anymore

Her rose garden

Grew thorns

As sharp as swords

Her pure heart

Was stored within

Never to be touched

Pierced or broken

Again

Such sadness of internal emotions, yes some of us go through a great deal of emotional stress, walls are thrown up blocking our inner visions from enjoying anything external to us, and especially the true love factor of self.

Powerfully expressed poem here, and very well written as well. Thumbs up and thanks for sharing it with us carolinemd21.

Wonderful. We normally look for walls that other people put up against us. Sad but true that most are built by ourselves. These are the folks we should seek out to love.
