The First Day of Spring

Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen, Denmark

Jolly with laughter I do sing,

The sun it's shining on this first day of spring,

The warmth outside it sends us running,

To see the beauty of nature, so stunning.

We gaze in awe of the natural beauty,

We run to the woods as if it's our duty,

Sun on the pines, the scent is bliss,

This is a feeling we would never miss.

Hand in hand, the sun on our faces,

We know this is the most beautiful of places,

We lie upon warm dry ground,

Listening to natures sound.

Wind through the leaves, a lovely bird takes wing,

To gaze upon all this, makes one's heart sing,

I will love forever this beautiful season,

The joy, the laughter, the beauty beyond reason.

Thanks for your comments. Hopefully, you won't have that long to wait. Though weather patterns have become quite erratic in the past few years. Of course, another issue altogether. Warmest regards anglnwu

Tarajeyaram, thank you for your comments.

Ytsenoh, I love spring too. I can't stand the cold so winter is not an ideal season for me which is why the coming of spring is such a welcome event for me. Thank you for your comments.

Jaggedfrost, I really appreciate your constructive critique and insights, they are quite helpful. As I have commented before, I am not as confident about my poetry as I am with my essays or written articles so I really welcome comments that can help me improve. Thank you.

The rhyme is contrived but it all fits and nothing about the form seems desperate. It might of been cooler if you could make it fit iambic form but it is a nice light poem that makes me hate it right now because it snowed last night here but I wish I was there.
