Heritage for the Family of Man ( a Poem of Reconciliation)

Updated on July 13, 2016
What shall our people's heritage to be?
What shall our people's heritage to be?

What shall our legacy to be, to bequeath, our endowment to our aires,

Will we leave a nurtured earth, radiant, showing that everyone cares?

Is it to be as a skeleton, a withered fruit on the vine, passed onward,

Should we take charge, be as good stewards, carry our planet forward?

Should we not be good stewards of this earth?
Should we not be good stewards of this earth?

What our tomorrows will bring, we each may have a hand in preparing,

It matters utmost, that we each man our post, acting, as well as caring.

We must quit polluting our seas, choking air we breathe, day and night,

Stop chopping down our forests of trees, end this world of such a blight.

save the plants and food we all need to sustain life...
save the plants and food we all need to sustain life...

Should we continue in destroying our crops, preventing their reincarnation,

Genetically changing the basic makeup, altering their ability in incubation?

Should we make a world's united effort in curing diseases, all's eradication,

Truly put forth needed funding, take hold of the severity of over-population?

How vital is our flowers, plants...trees?
How vital is our flowers, plants...trees?

When should a mother have all the right to save her baby, its healthy existence,

Do authorities have the obligation, to take one's breath, without any conscience?

Can we in all consideration for humanity, allow continued starvation in the world,

Must we turn away all immigrants, because of their past home, to streets hurled?

What shall our children think, so their own, as they observe a world of intolerance,

Our globe of a sinister few, full of evil's intent, to control many, as a persistence?

Can't we all learn from our mistakes, understand consequences, our experience,

We must now stand up, move forward, in a free land, declare real independence?

Declare our real independence...
Declare our real independence...

Your words are all true. Instead of "aires," I think you meant "heirs"? Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, we need to reclaim our independence. It concerning that our aged citizens may be forced to live on pennies. It is alarming we accept the deaths of the unborn as normal. You have said so much here that needs to be taken to heart.

This is a wonderful reminder on this independence weekend to take better care of our planet. Love our families more and come together as nations worldwide. Humanity is the key. We all want the same things no matter where we live in the world. Happy 4th...
