Hi Mom, I Am Glad I Gave You a Call

Updated on May 13, 2017

Mom made me and I made him

Life is good thanks to moms

Just perhaps

Hi Mom, I Am Glad I Gave You a Call

How many years did we spent apart?

So many I trouble counting in truth

How often did we meet to again start

Favorite dining in our favorite booth

Once I remember calling you

I was on a pyramid far far away

Your concern was real like only you can do

I hid the dangers that I faced that day

Another time the call was from Australia

Some convention I had to attend

Again I worried that I had failed ya

A rift I promised that I would mend

You had passed along at the last call I made

I was in another far off land

You answered again and heard what I said

My knees weakened I could not stand

So today I feel you close I need not call

You are fully in my heart

Our distance now is quite very small

Never again shall we be apart

My mom loves this song and so do I

Moms never leave us

Please let go of the need to see and touch and hear.

Mona I am one of those strange ones that celebrates death. I think it releases us from earthly burden and allows us just to be a part of the love that is omnipresent and omnipotent and of course Alpha and Omega. Maybe I am just trying to avoid the pain of losing someone in the physical.

This is an absolutely beautiful poem Eric. I think it is always hard for us to let go of our moms, even many years after she has gone. I love the advice at the end.

I lost my mom over twenty years ago. Especially on mothers day, I wish I could have had one last phone call. If I had known we would have had only seventeen years together on earth, I would have said I love and appreciate you more often.

John I went into what we called the Congo, I was supposed to be easy does it with a oil trader in Paris. When I called I heard the hissing noise as she inhaled mightely through her teeth. I put her through hell and back, at least I hope back. Not best friends but mutual ones.

Dora I think that mom kind of laid a guilt trip on me about that. And that is really cool because he made me contact friends and the politeness of letting them know I love them. Kind of backwards loving stuff that I praise her for teaching me.

I agree whole heartedly. It is Beautiful. I liked the song Immensely and it did remind me of my mother at times when I was shipped to different places in the world. (Deserts, Jungles, Sheet ice and Mountains of Ice) My mother had a very genuine concern for my safety and she did show it though trying to hide it when I was able to speak to her from some weird corner of the Globe. Mothers are irreplaceable. We finally wake up and Realize just how important they are and were when they are gone. You then Know that you did not Cherish Her enough, To be accurate we did not show it as well as we should have.

Eric, it does feel great when we initiate the contact. Our mothers deserve that kind of attention.

Bill in later years my mom seemed to suggest to me that I was no good. But my mom, like my son's mother found no need to boost me up. So then she hired me. She sought my advise on matters complex in her role as a Chair of a board. That finally told me what she really thought of me.

Mom's are complex, for sure not for me to understand. Just to love and in death we do not part.

Very nice, buddy! I was a pain in the ass as a son, the older I got....but I think my mother knew I loved her. Why she put up with me is a mystery...probably Love!

John, my young son's mom and my beautiful bride insists that I rise at the crack of dawn and cook her and our boy a feast for breakfast. And tonight we gorged on what we called mother's day eve. Food almost seems irrelevant it is the togetherness that is sought. Much love to you and yours.

A wonderful poetic tribute to your Mom, Eric. I have been trying to write one for mine but unfortunately, I am struggling. When I am a few lines in I tear up and can't seem to finish. Maybe I will succeed before the day is done. My wife and I are going to a Mother's Day lunch, so I am looking forward to that.
