His Wedding Vows

Updated on February 7, 2015

His Wedding Vows

It didn’t make any sense,

but the fear was clear,

and there was no pretense,

he was there for absolution,

for a sin he had yet to commit,

the priest wanted to know

what was it,

he has never sinned in his entire life,

he wanted to break his wedding vows,

he wanted to cheat on his wife,

sin was a sin,

and that’s where the guilt came in,

he knew his wife would never come back,

she was in a coma,

but she still survived that brutal attack,

it was several years,

as he held in the tears,

a voice inside him was demanding,

almost commanding

that he stay faithful

regardless of her physical condition,

he didn’t know what to do,

what advice could your wife give you,

if she could?

Said the priest as he understood,

the doctors all agreed that she would

not regain consciousness,

and he knew they were right,

but it still kept him in darkness,

without any signs of light.

Very sad. This is beautiful, Frank, and something that many people face -- probably more than we know. Voted up +++ and sharing.

Stay faithful. Don't break those vows. In thisickness and in health. This man was being tested. I think it's morally wrong.
