Honesty

Honesty

Tell me what is honesty
and I'll tell you what is true.
I sometimes wonder if I know
or if it can congrue.

If you read from Webster's book,
this is what you'll find...
Honesty: thought, word and deed
that is not undermined.

Sincerity, integrity...
straightforwardness in kind...
Truthfulness in everything
is honesty's design.

Now, this is just the truth of it,
that I can only be
as honest, at any moment
as I can be, with me.

Honesty begins at home
within each person's heart...
To be truthful with another,
requires truth within to start.

Honesty's a tricky thing,
subjectively accrued...
dependent on perception
is it individually pursued?

Tell me what is honesty
and I'll tell you if I'm true.
I sometimes wonder if I know
or if I, yet, congrue.

To be honest is something that I really believe in. What a pity so many people are dishonest. Great work here.

Amazing and lovely poem. Honesty, it is always in the gray area, subjective and abstract. Thank you for sharing.

That which is true within shines without, and this is a truth I find with your poems.

This is a deep spiritual poem highlighting how we own our own truth and as such truth is meaningless unless independent of the perceiver. I love it. You have expressed a truth independent of the perceiver by writing this. Did you mean to? Thank you.

Spirit Whisperer, this is an interesting thing, this poem. As my "Truth" is shifting, I am becoming aware more and more that my perceptions, which have been and often are faulty, are the determiners of my "truth", as you have, indeed, suggested a time or two...now this is a revelation that I didn't see coming...and therefore my definition of Truth as I understand it, is also shifting...it is a bit confusing in my head but is beginning to take shape and solidify. Alot of my writings are messages to me, through my pen, or in this case, my laptop...lol and I think this poem is one of those. Thank you!
