How A Tree Changed Me

Updated on December 6, 2012

A Different View

Busy as I could be

I was totally exhausted and had to take a nap

Drained of all my thoughts

I went to sleep and out like a light

Not a sound could be heard not even an idea could be located

I was on my own

In a quieter place

Where noone is in a hurry

Just darkness with a sense of calmness

A little later when I rose to my feet

I seen the Christmas tree my wife had decorated so nicely

The lights shining in every direction

What a tremendous feeling of excitement

I could see the look in her eyes

One of deep satisfaction of a job well done

After all her hard work she has the tree showing off it's inner beauty

Now this tree is not a real tree

Neither is it a tall tree

But there is something about it

That makes it special

Maybe it's the fact that my wife decorated it

That her love and care are in every branch that hangs

Holding bulbs of beauty and the string of glowing lights

The old ornaments from years ago so delicate and precious

Bringing back many past memories that have captured the heart

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and love that is larger than life

Hi, Dream On! First of all, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Secondly, this was a wonderful hub! This could rival Shel Silverstein's "A Living Tree." Thirdly, thanks for the follow! I'm looking forward to reading more hubs.

GypsyRose Lee The fun of pulling out bulbs and ornaments that have been hiding all year.Seeing them displayed for all to see.Even our cat has been good laying and curled in a ball not clawing at every decoration and trying to take a bite of the tree. Then again it is still early and we will have to wait and see. If Charlette our cat will be notty or nice .I love how your tree has changed over the years.Thanx for reading and enjoying the holiday for the enjoyment of each other that we are truely blessed.

Voted up and beautiful. Loved the imagery of your Christmas tree. I remember tall childhood Christmas trees, I remember a medium sized artificial Christmas tree and now here in Riga with forests all about we have real trees again but what you reminded me of was that it's not about size it's about the love that's put in the decorating. Last year we got a tiny tree just big enough to put on a table. You know it turned out to be one of my favorites once I got some treasured decorations on it and my hubby strung the lights so that little tree looked tall and glowing. Don't have a tree yet this year but soon. Hope your holidays are merry and bright. Passing this on.

Emilyfed So many things I love about the Christmas holiday and when we are just starting to have fun it is over.So I make it a point to enjoy all the days leading up to the big day.Like blowing one candle at a time on a birthday cake until they all go out.Enjoying it slowly.Thanx so much for reading.

What a thoughtful and beautiful way to express your admiration and appreciate for such a special purpose. This is a fine example of what is created when love is doing the work. There are a million Christmas Trees but none shows so brightly as the own lovingly decorated by a loving spouses hands.
