How Does One Better Their Writing?

Updated on September 18, 2017

How Does One Better Their Writing?

What is a writer and how do they better their writing? A writer is a person who writes a specific text, stories or articles in a specific way. How does a writer better there writing? Who is a writer? A writer practices their writing a limitless number of times doing a certain text, maybe short stories or articles. Is writing just a knack does it just come to mind? Or they just write a limitless number of different things to better their vocabulary for other writing that they might want to do in the future, or that they might do in the future.

What about how a writer betters their writing? the answer is obvious, isn't it? or is it? That is the question. Or better yet, How does a writer better there writing? There are probably many different answers to this question because everyone who is a writer has different ways to better their writing. So I am going to tell you how one betters their writing from my perspective. The way one betters their writing is they research and write all the time a limitless number of things, which makes writing limitless. If you research the specific topic that they are writing about, then you have more angles to take the topic you are writing about. It’s not all about research, though, if you are writing about a topic where you need people’s input why not some people for their input ask and put that into what you are writing about.

Some people will ask for input on their writing in order to better it, or they will write a piece and edit it over and over again in order to better it. They might even ask people what they think of the topics that have come up with if you ask someone if they like a specific topic, and they say no, why not ask them why. You can still write whatever you want because you are the author people will read what they want. Writing is keeping an open mind.

In order to better your writing, you have to work at it in a limitless capacity and ask for feedback. When you ask for feedback though remember to take whatever is told to you about your writing into consideration even if you don't like it. That is the only way that you will learn how to write better and how to write differently. When someone betters their writing they are practicing all the time. What I mean when I say practice your writing, is just keep writing, don’t stop writing even if something doesn’t work out as planned. The more you write the better it will become. People better their writing by writing if you don’t write then your writing will not be any better than it was in the beginning and for a writer that is simply unacceptable isn’t it? That is why I will continue to write and if something doesn’t work out I will edit it until it does work out.

How to improve your writing

In order for people to better their writing, they have to be willing to write all the time and edit over and over again. Also, they have to be willing to take creative criticism about their writing. If you ask someone what they think about your writing and they say that they don’t like it, don’t leave it at that, have them explain to you why they don’t like it so that you can fix it. Everything to get better takes practice and time, and the same goes for writing. If you are thinking of giving up on your writing because you don’t know how to better it, why not check out what I said above. Practice, edit and come up with new ideas, the more ideas you come up with the better your writing will be because it will be different and that is what people like. People like when things are different or at least that is what I think anyway.

People better their writing by writing so if you are a writer and you don’t know how to better your writing, why not try just that writing and see where it leads you. it could be surprising to see what you come up with. Even if you are not a writer but have a story to tell why not write it down and see what happens with it, even if you just give it to a friend to read or you read it yourself. You only better your writing by writing, and find out if you can write by writing so why not give it a shot if that is what you want. These are just my opinions, this might not be how other writers do it because each writer has their own style and the way that they like to do it, that is why writing is limitless. This is how I have done and it has worked.

Everyone who writes is always practicing because in something like writing there is always room for improvement. which only comes from writing things over and over again and using different words that mean the same thing just to change up the way something is written, that is why it can be done limitlessly. Another reason writing can be done limitlessly is because the more you practice it and the more research you do on a certain subject the better your writing will be. That is also the way that someone betters their writing by doing research and implementing it into what they are talking about, also relating your writing back to your own life to make it more relatable to the people reading it.

Every time you write, you are practicing and learning new ways to improve it that is why people can better their writing limitlessly because it is so easy you don't even realize you are doing it. I am still practicing my writing though never give up on it if you want it just do it, no matter what.

Write, Write, Write

Writing good takes practice, all the time. Not only in the writing things down area either. Being a good writer requires an extensive vocabulary which means reading a lot. For writers to better their writing they have to be thinking of writing all the time and always have something with them to jot ideas down on or at least that is what I do and it seems to help when it is time for me to go back to the computer and write.

Always think in terms of writing and you will be a better writer because you will always be practicing without even noticing that you are doing it.

You can easily correct this Hub's title. Spell Check doesn't catch correctly spelled but wrong words. Click on Edit and then click on the title and make the correction.

You're right, Louise! There's no big secret or magic involved except to do it. I also advise these tips too:

      1) Read. There has to be a basis for the content. Reading and writing are the light and dark of each other.

      2) Take a class. What better way than to learn the ABCs of writing than to learn them from someone who dedicated their life to it?

      3) Set time aside to write. Make a goal of some sort and be consistent.

      4) Avoid cliches. If you've heard it, don't use it. Find another way to say it.

      5) Learn a new word everyday. It helps build your vocabulary and strengthens communication.

I agree completely. One does not improve their piano playing by reading about it....you have to sit down and actually touch the keys with your fingers....same with writing.
