How profitable a poet..........Verse

Updated on January 6, 2015

Take these lines from my hand they are
all free for the taking
But with them take my needs
my emotions
this incessant yearning too
they can all be yours

On the sidewalk in front of my house
along with the old used sofa
and fly rod
next to the worn leather
baseball mitt
and the cracked blue glass vase

Like the rusting hulk of an old
bedspring in the woodshed
the broken leaf rake and
two stoke lawnmower
with a broken pull rope

Take them
take them all as I have
no longer the need for a pen
for such rusted
broken utensils

I guess to me poetry is and has been such an emotional journey , in so many ways therapeutic , that I often even feel that it isn't enough yet . or at all . Probably many people feel this way and yet its such an up and down journey isn't it now . When I found hub pages it was just what I was seeking ! A place to vent and to explore this need to express .

All of you above and so many, many more have been the savior I was looking for ,writing and poetry has been good for me , Reading , sharing , the forums , and the interactions probably most of all has been an amazing journey , Thank you all so much !

Sad, thoughtful, maybe pensive is the word. :) But I like it. :) Theresa

An interesting way to look at things poetry wise.

The porch and yard stuff sound like a home worth living in. The broken pen is clearly worth taping back together. Perhaps if it were not for the brokenness the words would not be so real. Thank you for another great write!

This makes it sound like you are disillusioned with writing Ed. I hope that's not true. I wish you all the best in the New Year.
