Introduction to Geeks

There was a time when a superhero was just that, a superhero and there was no such thing as a geek....of course there were nerds but they had nothing to do with superheroes! Back in the day a nerd was the guy or gal with tape on their eyeglasses and a pocket protector in their shirt pocket. Some of you may not remember those days. Well, evolution took place and nerds evolved into "geeks".

Geeks are people who are different from the mainstream. In many instances they are very smart. Sometimes those who were considered overly intellectual were considered geeks. Geeks come in all sizes, shapes, and varieties....from computer geeks to just plain overall geeks. Most geeks are very good with computers and know a lot about technology...the guy you want to call when you have a problem. Geeks usually stick together and often have their own sense of humor and understanding of life.

Introduction to Super Heroes

It is most likely you all know about Super Heroes, after all if you have never heard of Superman or Batman you yourself must be a cave dweller. There was a time when Super Heroes were relegated to comic books and the occasional TV show, but, motion pictures changed all that. With the making of the first Batman Movie, Super Heroes broke into the big time!

There are male Super Heroes like the aforementioned Superman and Batman, but there are more, like Ironman, Green Lantern, Spiderman, and the list goes on. Don't worry, there are female Super Heroes too. We have Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Black Widow, Storm, and yes, there are more.

Super heroes have a different personality in their super hero form. They may be shy and timid in their human form but take on strength and super-human abilities in their super hero form. Some are born super heroes, others are turned into super heroes through some twist of fate, but they all have a cause to fight for, many, just to save the world, but all Super Heroes have a cause.

If you are a real super hero fan you will know there are on going battles over who is the best super hero. Batman for instance is a successful comic book character, had a camp sixties TV show, has, and had numerous cartoons, and recently had some very good movies. Arguing that he is the best super hero is fairly easy, but he does have competition. No matter who wins that debate it is safe to say that super hero movies are fun, no matter who the star is. Of course, who doesn't look up to a self-sacrificing super hero? Movies or no movies, being a super hero is super!

A super hero geek watches all things Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who! It doesn't hurt to watch The Big Bang Theory either. Can you think of anyone better to learn from than Sheldon Cooper or Leonard Hofstadter. Don't forget Howard Wolowitz and Rajesh Koothrappali! These guys are the epitome of geekiness and are true Super Hero Geeks...they know everything about super heroes, just look at where they spend most of their spare the comic book store! Wonderful and interesting and who doesn't love these superheroes. I have always admired them, reading their heroics and then watching them on celluloid and silently wished I could emulate them.

      Voted up and interesting.

Hi Tilly. Another masterpiece my friend. I loved batman when I was a kid and used to buy a lot of the chewing gum with Batman cards inside the wrapper, great fun and simple pleasures. I know find the modern day superhero´s a lot sexier than I did back then, oh well a girl has to continue having some pleasures in life LOL :)

Effer there's a little bit of geek in all of us, somewhere...I am trying to give it hell...I figure after December I'll probably back down on the number of hubs I do but right now I'm using hyper energy.

I know what you mean Brett, Big Bang is one of my favorite shows! Thanks for all the sharing, it is appreciated.

Moonlake, now that you're on your way to geekdom, you have to learn more about super heroes ;)

Lesleysherwood, I don't think most of us are the likes of the Big Bang cast, their intelligence would be classified "super" intelligence I would think. Thanks for stopping by.

Mary, Loved reading this and agree that watching these programmes helps you become a superhero geek. I am without a doubt a superhero fan, star-trek, the next generation being my favourite, but im not intelligent enough to be a geek. I think the likes of Howard Wolowitz, Leonard Hofstadter, Penny, Sheldon Cooper and Rajesh Koothrappali have helped geeks to become cool.

Bill, as I told CC, there's a little 'geek' in all of us! We may outgrow some of it but....

hawaiianodysseus, how wonderful to be Walter Mitty! And, how right you are...'geek's' are successful because they are smart and not worried about what other people think! Glad you enjoyed.

Should I be looking forward to a 'geeky' hub Rolly?

Thanks for reading and commenting Rodney, glad you enjoyed.

Mary, I really enjoyed this hub. Like Walter Mitty, whenever I read interesting hubs like this, my mind is triggered to wander off into a tangential daydream. One of the thoughts gleaned by such a wandering in the last couple of minutes was this: "The people that were classified as geeks and nerds in my school turned out to be the most successful people. Some of them even turned out to be superheroes...policemen, firemen, civic leaders, and the like." Me, the dreamer? I was destined to land on HubPages and write down these anecdotal memories. Good job, Mary! Always a pleasure reading your work!
