How to Submit a Secret to PostSecret

Updated on October 18, 2011

Materials Needed:
Postcard or other mailable material (such as photo or index card)
Postage stamp

Step 1
Choose your secret. If you don't know what type of secret you want to reveal, look over some of the examples in PostSecret books, or on the official PostSecret website at The deeper and darker the secret, the better.

Step 2
Decorate the blank side of your postcard or mailable material with your own artwork or image. Refrain from using a copyrighted image though, because this will prevent it from being published. When decorating your postcard, keep with the theme of your secret.

Step 3
Write out your address on the opposite side of your postcard. Make it out to:
13345 Copper Ridge Rd
Germantown, MD 20874
Don't put a return address on it. The whole point of PostSecret is that the secrets are anonymous.

Step 4
Add a postage stamp to your postcard and insert it into a mailbox. Your secret will be sent out and reviewed for publication. Please note however, that once you submit your secret, it becomes the legal property of PostSecret. Therefore, you no longer have permission to publish it yourself.
