How to Choose What to Write About on HubPages

How do you choose what to write about on HubPages? Are you new to HubPages and wondering what you should write about on HubPages? This hub will share some tips about how to choose what to write about on HubPages.

This article is in response to the question asked by webismine.

Hi webismine (and anyone else who is reading). In answering your question, "how to choose what to write about" I would always say write about what you know first. As your article content increases, you might want to research new topics but I would definitely suggest writing about things you know well and are passionate about first.

How to decide what to write about on HubPages

I love cooking and when I cook something, I might take photos of the dish and post the recipe for example. After watching a good film, I might also post a review within a couple of weeks or days preferably while details of the plot and character names are still fresh in my head. I also love to write about fashion and music. I would say that cooking, fashion, music and movies are my main niches. After pregnancy and having a baby, all things about babies became another topic that I write about.

Many of the Hubbers I follow have other interests and niches such as crafts. Many are history buffs and you can always learn something from reading their articles.

Additionally, I have shied away from discussing both politics and religion on HubPages but I might open up more in my writings about that pretty soon. Nevertheless, some hubbers love to write about these topics. It is their passion and therefore they are not afraid of controversy or how argumentative discourse might develop in the comment section of their articles. I say kudos to them for speaking up whatever the consequence. Their writing is very provocative and compelling at times.

Physical and mental health topics as well as education topics are also frequently written about. Hubbers feel encouraged to write about anything they have some expertise in.

Finally, when it begins to become more challenging to develop your own topics to write about, you can always take a look at the questions that are being asked by other HubPages users and develop a reply as I am doing now for your question regarding writing on HubPages.

I hope this helps. Enjoy writing on HubPages!

Good advice. I have been writing hubs for four months and so far I have never run out of ideas for topics to write about, only time to write them.

Hi, Journey - the writing about what you know is a great topic because we can usually say so much about things that interest us, and the research is minimal. I also like to write about new interests, things that I would like to know more about, so go to the library for books and really delve into a topic, where before I wrote on HP, I would not dig so deep.
