Humility - 17th Word-in the Good Words Project (Poem)

Updated on May 20, 2014

Project Good Words Week 17

I am committed to write a poem for a WORD given weekly by fellow author Jo_Goldsmith11, in her "Good Words Project." A word to practice living by that word's meaning.

Peggy's Ranch is so beautiful, and she has graciously given me permission to use her photos for my poems. Thank you Peggy!

Humility!

© By Shyron Shenko 5/19/2014

What is Humility to me?

Humility is to feel so small

Beside the greatness of it all

Awed by the beauty God created

Humility is to be touched by the words of truth

Words that's so profound

They sear right through your heart

To where your soul is found

Have you felt humility?

Humbled by the words of God

To know he walked upon this earth

Upon this very Sod

Who are we to say?

Humility, It’s just a word?

If we have never seem His works or never heard his word

If we have never felt this way

Because this is my favorite Song

Can you continue this Saga of Love, pain and life?

Lets help Courtney grow up and find adventure and her own love.

You can read Ruby's (always exploring) chapter.

The eternal struggle between humility and ego. I am happy to report that I am slowly winning this struggle. Thanks for the beautiful reminder.

      Dear Shyron,

I believe humility is a definite 'perc' of aging gracefully.

I also believe you have a way of reaching deep in our souls to think about these insightful issues through your poetry. I am always grateful to have stopped by your place!

Voted UP & UABI. Have a peaceful day. Love, Maria

To me the word humulity means the recognition of one's worth, admitting our faults, accepting others without judgement. Humbled when i realize how small i am compared to the vast universe and God's greatness. Love your poetry..Hugs.

One can feel humiliated in some cases and what a word to think about so right to the point and direct.

I was impressed by this Shyron. I have practically always been humble my whole life, after being picked on all through school and thinking of myself of as 'a nobody.' I voted it up and pinned it.

You do indeed help a person be still for a few moments and consider your words and how much more they mean that so many of the superficial, but sadly necessary things, we are all chasing nowadays just to survive.

Voted up and BAUI, pinned to AH, and shared.

Nature in particular makes me feel humble, for its vastness and beauty and complexity.

Your poem is like a cool balm, a gentle breeze and a kind touch in the face of this very fast mind boggling environment ! To think and live such words is a real living, otherwise it is mere breath coming and going. Well written. Voted up.

Kevin, I am glad you were impressed, thank you for the votes and pin.

We should have gone to the same school, we could have been buddies.

I was also bullied and teased. But now the one who teased me about being so skinny now wishes she could be my size.

      Blessings my friend.

      Hi Shyron,

Lovely poem on humility. Yes, He sure did walk this earth and humbled Himself as a servant to wash feet ...our God! Beautiful reminder that we are to humble ourselves and serve others, just as He did.

      Up and more and away

      Blessings always

Lovely, Shyron! Of all the attributes of human nature and character, I think humility is the most profound, if it is found. Sadly, not too often.

An excellent poem as you always choose the perfect words to express your thoughts. When I think of humility I think more of how I see myself compared to other people. I do get impatient with people sometimes, but I try to remember that even though they may be slow or incapable of processing certain ideas and concepts, so I too have difficulty with some things, and so even though our issues are with different things, we still all have issues

I think it's important to be humble because conceit and arrogance really get no traction with God. We all fall far short of His ideal, and arguing over who is further from it seems futile. Falling short of His expectations is falling short of His expectations. Either you hit the target or you don't. This exercise in 'life' isn't horseshoes.

That is why arguing over whose sin is greater is a waste of time. All who sin (and do not receive forgiveness) will be lost. The caliber of sin doesn't matter. All sinners are going to the same place. It's arrogant to imagine that your own adultery is better than someone else's murder, for example. But people have their sin rating system and it is a human creation having nothing to do with God.

An excellent poem and I'm sharing it again. Hope you are staying in where it's cool as much as possible. I hate to think of you being sick from the heat or having one of those gargantuan headaches. Life is too short to spend it that way, and I know we don't always have a choice, but when we do have a choice, we should try to get as much from life as we can. It's easier to do that when one is feeling well and up for the challenge. Take care. Blessings and hugs, dear friend.

Au fait. thank you for the comments, compliments and sharing.

I know what you mean about arrogance.

We worked all day cutting grass with the big tractor, as I think I told you I burned up the lawn tractor trying to cut the grass after the dry-out.

I pray that all is well with you.

Blessings and Hugs my dear friend
