Hunter...a poem

Updated on August 14, 2012

How dare you enter this place
With murderous intent filling your heart
Such righteous judgment across your face
As you enter my castle dark

Do you even know what dwells here
Deep in the shadows of night
Creatures that inspire such fear
They dare not show themselves to the light

Yet here you stand before us
Weapons held tight in hand
In your god you foolishly trust
Such blind faith I will never understand

So come now warrior of the light
Bring your righteous rage
Battle the minions of the dark night
and see who ends in a cage

Sword flashing in the darkness
Yet we won't stop coming for you
Remember hunter who loosed this madness
Who woke us, to prove your god true

Yet as your blood splashes across my floor
You don't stop moving in your endless fight
Your sword and soul hungry for much more
In our deaths you truly do delight

So who is the true monster here
To survive we fight and kill
Our terrible visage invoking much fear
Yet it's you who hunts for the thrill

So know that when you fall
Upon the stones at my feet
It won't be for your death I call
I have another fate for you to meet

By my side you will forever stay
My protector for all time
A slave to all i do and say
A hunter whose soul will be all mine

No heroes death, as we hold you down
Scream as you feel my deep bite
In our darkness you will drown
as you become a creature of the night

      Great pic before the poem...

Interesting read with some great themes touched upon; how we always have to try and be brave by seeking out danger; how those that consider themselves honorable too often go out to pick fights. Great imagery, too. Made me wonder if this story appeared on a larger scale somewhere in past literature? Hmm...

I am more than thrilled that you liked this dark journey, so many atrocities for thousands of years have been committed in the name of god, so it's nice to think that once in a while the so called infidels get more than their own back :)

Thanks for the visit it Is always a joy to receive a comment from you my friend :)

As with many beliefs and battles through history, we have to ask... Who is truly the villain?

Beautiful work Nighthag. It's nice that someone is painting the 'righteous good' as the murderous villains that they are... I personally thank you for delivering unto me a genuinely, emotionally satisfying conclusion.... Just beautiful!
